Points are Close and with all the Rainouts, Every Point Counts | by Jane Smith
Bithlo, Fla (August 6, 2003) For the first time in weeks, Orlando SpeedWorld was able to get their full racing program in last Friday night. Double features in Sportsman, Super Stock, Mini Stock and Strictly Stock along with the 125 lap Sunbelt Super Late Model race. Hopefully the Rain and Racing Gods will be good to SpeedWorld once again and let the racers enjoy a night of fun.
Derrick Wood still leads the Bandolero Bandits with 596 points. Chad Akins sits in second and 64 points behind Wood. Gerald White, Jr. stands third with 496 points over Josh Williams in fourth and Matthew Jarrett in fifth.
Kevin Henry holds the leads for the Bandolero Young Guns but Brandon Thomson is doing a good job of catching up to Henry. Henry leads the points with 616 points with Thomson at 572 points. Scott Jarrett stands third with 500 points followed by Jessica Murphy with 372 and Troy Atkins with 344.
Coming into the Super Late Model feature Friday night will be Rusty Ebersole and B.J. McLeod tied for the lead. Both Ebersole and McLeod are very good friends and have had a ball fighting each other this season. From week to week, these two race each other hard but clean and it is anyone's guess which one will be the Super Late Model Champion. Ebersole and McLeod both stand at 420 points each.
Rich Wood sits third with 244 points over David Hart with 160 and Ronnie Roach with 152. Rick Bates and Rick Lyons are tied for sixth and seventh at 108 points each followed by Jared Allison, Bobby Lyons and Aric Almirola.

Jason Boyd is trying to catch up to Wheeler fast as he now sits at 284 points. Lynn Dicandio sits fourth with 216 points over fifth place Glen Bradley with 200 points. Dave Riley, Jared Allison, Frank Polly, Darren Gould and Chad Pierce round out the top ten.
Richard Hight has a pretty hefty lead over the Sportsman division and looks like a shoe-in for the Champion. Hight stands at 571 points, 203 points more than second place Michael Albert with 368 points. Early points leader Doug Samion now sits third with 256 points followed by Donnie Smith with 240 and our newest "first time" feature winner last Friday night. Danny Shearer sits fifth with 216 points but is tied with Rob Kayse who also sits at 216 points. Justin Hall comes in seventh with Robert Hight in eighth, Erick Traves in ninth, and Earl Beckner in tenth.
Tim "Missileman" McPhail is well on his way to his second Mini Stock Championship at Orlando SpeedWorld. McPhail leads the points at 500 markers. Coming in second is Dick Laszlo with 356 points. Sean "Weasel" Bass stands third with 348 points, a close battle for second and third.
Newcomer Mike Williams sits in fourth with 156 points followed by Randy Blakeslee with 128 points. R.J. Arnone, Pedie Allison, Rex Hollinger, Chad Pierce and Josh Hermann round out the top ten.
