Ocala Speedway hopes to keep the rain away and return to regular Friday night racing action this week and it will be Ladies Night at the speedway with all ladies age 18 and over admitted free to the main grandstand.
The Steven A. Bagen Super Late Models return to action this week for just their second race of the second half point season. Several "outsiders" are expected in the field to gear up for next weeks Florida Pro Series event here.
Archer's Patrick Williams topped the field back on July 11th and is looking for his third consecutive SLM victory. First half champion E.J. Wise, Brock Oglesby, Rich Pratt, Mike Bresnehan, Gig Smith, Scott Grossenbacher, Paul Combast and a host of others are expected to be on hand this week.
William Edwards of Gainesville and Dunnellon's Tom Posavec remain tied for the point lead in the Diamond H Air & Heat Sportsman Division and are just two markers ahead of third place Kyle Maynard. Patrick Mennenga and last week's Sunday afternoon winner Frank Buchanan are tied for fourth spot.'
Paul "Tweety" Fletcher of Ocala has a three point edge over Anthony's Mark Mitchell following his win this past Sunday in the K-Country Street Stocks. David Chastain is just a point behind Mitchell with Mike Rosa and Bobby Taylor in fourth and fifth.
First half champion Rick Kuhn continues to head the Four Cylinder Stock points race by five over Tom Ellis. Harold Barup and Joel Byall are tied for third, eight markers in back of the leader while Chris Noce is fifth. Despite winning three of four Four Cylinder Stock features during the new point season, Steve Gallagher is eighth in points since his race on July 2 saw him with a DNF.
Pit gates open at 4PM, Grandstands at 6PM and racing begins at 8PM. Again all ladies 18 years of age and over will be admitted free to the main grandstand area.
