Ocala Drivers Ready to Get Back Into Action Friday Night | After last week's rain out, competitors at Ocala Speedway are chomping at the bit to get back into action this Friday night. The Steven A. Bagen Super Late Models will have the night off, but still have Friday night, August 8th to get their cars dialed in for the upcoming Florida Pro Series 125 on August 15th. Races scheduled for last week will not be made up.
The WIND-FM Open Wheel Modifieds will highlight the four division card this week. First half point champion David Baxley of Anthony won the first race of the second half two weeks ago and subsequently leads John Gerstner, Scott Millar, Jeremy Gerstner, and Jamie Tinkham in the current standings. The points in the Diamond H Air and Heat Sportsman class couldn't be much closer as Kyle Maynard and Tom Posavec are tied for the lead just a point ahead of third place William Edwards and two points up on first half champ Patrick "Sweet Pea" Mennenga.
Maynard destroyed his new car at Bronson Speedway two weeks ago but has purchased the car formerly driven by Doug Levesque to continue his quest to win a point championship in both Sportsman and Street Stock in the same year.
Ocala's Paul Fletcher and his "Tweety Bird" Camaro head the point chase in the K-Country 93.7FM Street Stocks by the slimmest of margins over David Chastain, Mark Mitchell, Tommy Roberts, and Mike Rosa.
Defending first half champion Rick Kuhn of Ocala holds a one point edge over Joel Byall in the Four Cylinder Stocks while Tom Ellis is four points out of first.
Fans should be getting their vocal chords in tune as it will be Karaoke Night at Ocala Speedway with several prizes going to the best "crooners." Pit gates open at 4PM, Grandstand gates at 6PM, and heat races take to the track promptly at 8PM. There will be a Sunday, August 4th rain date this week if needed.
