Bradberry and Fultz lead NASCAR Kodak Series Charge into Ocala | by Larry MacMillan
Point leader Charlie Bradberry and two-time winner Jeff Fultz will lead the NASCAR Kodak Southeast Series into North Central Florida for the Victory Junction 150 Wednesday evening at Ocala Speedway.
The race will benefit the Victory Junction Gang camp that Kyle and Patti Petty are developing for critically ill children. The camp is being built in honor of their son Adam.
Bradberry, of Chelsea, AL, sits atop the Kodak Southeast Series point standings, 41 points ahead of fellow Alabama driver John Wilkinson III who hails from the famous racing city of Hueytown. Wilkinson is also the top rookie in the Series so far this year.
Fultz, racing out of Mooresville, NC, is third in points 55 behind Bradberry. Fultz, however, is the only two-time winner in the Kodak Series so far in 2003 taking the checker earlier in the year at South Boston, VA and again just last weekend at Kentucky Motor Speedway.
Fellow Mooresville resident Brian Smith is fourth in points followed by another rookie driver, Terry Mason, Jr. of Birmingham AL.
Cleveland GA's Jason Hogan, Johnny Brazier, rookie Cecil Chunn of Spring Hill, TN, rookie Justin Wakefield of Woodstock, GA and Savannah GA driver Dusty Williams round out the current top ten in points.
Florida is expected to be well represented, especially by former Ocala Speedway Late Model champion David Reutimann of Zephyrhills who has been running the Kodak Series sparingly this year while making a name for himself in the NASCAR Busch Series. Reutimann is coming off a fine fifth place showing at the Milwaukee mile, racing from 22nd on the starting grid.
Billy Bigley, Jr. of Naples has run just a handful of races altogether this year while trying to put a Winston Cup effort together, but will probably make the trek to Ocala and former NASCAR Kodak Series Champion Wayne Anderson of nearby Wildwood could be in the field as well.
Other probable entries include Steven Howard of Greer, SC, Monroe, NC driver Greg Pope, Bluffton, SC's A.J. Frank, veteran Billy McInnis of Alpharetta, GA, Randy Gentry of Easley, SC, Wilmington NC's Kevin Prince, and Pensacola, FL leadfoots Scott Carlson and Eddie Mercer.
NASCAR Winston Cup drivers Kyle Petty and Christian Fittipaldi will be on hand to meet race fans and sign autographs. Fans who have not already bought tickets should arrive early as the race is expected to be a sellout. Grandstand gates will open at 5PM.
Racing is set to begin at 8PM sharp. Along with the Victory Junction 150, fans will be treated to feature race action in the Diamond H Air & Heat Sportsman, K-Country Street Stocks, and Four Cylinder Stock classes.
