| Due to Mother Nature and her win last weekend, SpeedWorld Revises June 27th Schedule | by Jane Smith
Bithlo, Fla (June 24, 2003) Mother Nature never even gave the racers at SpeedWorld a chance to even see the track much less race on it last weekend before the big flood. Rains have stopped, the sun is out and hopefully racing is on for June 27th.
Due to the rainout last weekend, the schedule has changed. The Mod Lites and Pro Challenge cars will be at SpeedWorld but Super Lates and Modifieds are now on the program along with Sportsman, Mini Stock, Super Stock and Strictly Stock. Plus the Kids Bike race is still on for Friday night.
It is not known whether B.J. McLeod will be at Orlando or not Friday night since he is racing the 200 lap Florida State Late Model Championship at USA International on Saturday but McLeod holds an eight point lead over Rusty Ebersole in Super Lates.
Ebersole, who was going to Lakeland last weekend to help B.J., is questionable as to his presence Friday night. Both drivers are good friends and did not expect Super Lates to run.
Ricky Wood sits in third but 140 points down from Ebersole. David Hart sits in fourth with Jared Allison in fifth.
Richard Hight leads the Sportsman with a 115 point lead over second place Michael Albert. Doug Samion comes in thrid with 256 points, 44 points behind Albert. Danny Shearer and Justin Hall round out the top five.
Even with the Pro Mod event at USA International, there should be a good field of mods at SpeedWorld. Shane Held leads the points with 300 but sixteen points behind Held is second place Matt Wheeler. Jason Boyd comes in third, 40 points behind Wheeler. Lynn Dicandio moved his way into fourth with his second place finish not long ago and has a eight point lead over fifth place Glen Bradley.
Tim "Missileman" McPhail leads the points in the Mini Stock division with a 92 point lead over second place Dick Laszlo. Sean Bass comes in third with 224 points followed by Mike Williams with 144 points. Randy Blakeslee moved into fifth place with 96 points.
Cory Freed leads the field for the Super Stock division with 348 points followed by Bob Wines with 316 points. Mike Soukup sits 100 points behind Wines in third with 216 points. Ron Whaley and Billy Cuddy round out the top five.
Derrick Wood leads the Bandolero Bandits with 480 points. Gerald White, Jr. sits in second with 400 points followed by Chat Atkins with 356 points. Josh Williams stands fourth with 316 points and Matthew Jarrett is fifth with 312 points.
Kevin Henry is seeing his lead in the Bandolero Young Guns get smaller as Brandon Thompson moves in on the lead. Henry has 460 points with Thompson at 444 points. Scott Jarrett comes in third with 388 points but has a good 104 point lead over fourth place Troy Atkins. Jessica Murphy sits in fifth with 252 points.
Grandstands open at 6 p.m. with racing action at 8 p.m. Don't forget, the Super Lates and Mods have been added to the program for Friday night. Join us for Mod Lites, Pro Challenge cars, Super Lates, Mods, Sportman, Super Stock, Mini Stock and Strictly Stock PLUS THE KIDS BIKE RACE.
