Looking for Better Weather at Ocala - NASCAR Kodak Series Tickets on Sale

by Dave Westerman

After a full weekend of torrential rains washed out all hopes of racing, Ocala Speedway was forced to cancel last weeks program altogether, well before the gates could be opened for the Sunday rain date. It's the first rainout since the track went to Friday night racing (with a Sunday rain date) last September.

Drivers in all six racing divisions will be chomping at the bit to get on the track Friday night as this will be the final week of the first half points championship.

In action will be the Steven A. Bagen Super Late Models where E.J. wise holds a somewhat healthy lead of 12 points on Patrick Williams, the WIND-FM Modifieds with David Baxley sitting six markers up on Jeremy Gerstner, Diamond H Air & Heat Sportsman where Tom Posavec has just a three point edge on Patrick Mennenga, K-Country Street Stocks where Mark Mitchell (despite having no wins so far this year) has a three point lead on Kyle Maynard who has won five times already this year, Mini Stocks with Marlon Durbin up by 12 over Larry Goolsby (who will have his car back out this week), and the Four Cylinder Bombers where Rick Kuhn is chasing his first championship, leading Tom Ellis by ten points.

It will be a quick turn-around for race fans, as Ocala Speedway will be back in action on Wednesday evening, July 2nd with the Victory Junction 150 for the NASCAR Kodak Southeast Series Late Models. It's the first time NASCAR has sanctioned an event in the 51 year history of the Ocala speedplant.

Petty Enterprises drivers Kyle Petty and Christian Fittipaldi are expected to be on hand to meet and greet fans and sign autographs during the evening. Petty drives the Georgia Pacific Dodge on the NASCAR Winston Cup circuit while Fittipaldi was recently signed to drive the famed #43 Cheerios Dodge for the remainder of the year. However, for the Pepsi 400 at Daytona, Fittipaldi will be at the wheel of the #44 Bugles Dodge as a one race deal had already been
signed for NASCAR Busch Grand National driver Shane Hmiel to make his Winston Cup debut driving the #43 at Daytona.

Advance tickets are still available for this big event for five dollars off. Fans can stop by the track during regular business hours or order tickets online by clicking the on Victory Junction 150 box on the home page at ocalaspeedway.com. Advance tickets will also be available at the ticket booth during racing activities this Friday.

Along with the big NASCAR show, fans will be treated to exciting action in the K-Country Street Stocks and Four Cylinder Stocks as well next Wednesday.

Fans who have registered to win the red Corvette that has been on display all season, should be in attendance this Friday night as the car will be given away at intermission. You need to be present to win.
