Orr to drive C.A.R.S. Motorsports Entry | by Rick Bristol
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Defending Orlando Speedworld Mini-stock track champion Bobby Orr will return to the seat of a familiar ride this Friday night at Orlando in Rick Bristol's C.A.R.S. Motorsports entry. Orr who won the 2002 championship with 11 wins in that car will be prepping for the following weeks Florida Mini-stock Challenge Series 50 lap event. Orr made one start on the series in 2002 in an emotional event just days after loosing his father Pete Orr to cancer. Bobby started 8th and had moved to second and was challenging leader Rick Sirmans when he hit fluid coming from a lapped car and ended up 11th. Orr has his sights set on the win this time and this week will give him some laps to get ready.
"I am very happy to have Bobby back in the car for these races and look forward to good runs" said Rick Bristol. "I want to thank Chad Pierce for driving a few weeks ago and winning for us the night before I stumbled thru a race at Bronson, he did a nice job with a car with the wrong gear and set up in it" added Bristol. C.A.R.S. Motorsports will only be entering limited events in 2003 as they look for sponsor dollars to make a run at the FMCS Championship in 2004. Bobby Orr will also be competing Saturday night at New Smyrna in an important night as it double points and he trails Brain Bellaw in the Late Model division by just 16 markers. "The Late Model deal has been a challenge and is my main focus this year, but I look forward to driving the old Mini-stock again and having some extra fun the next couple of weeks," said Orr. "I want to thank a couple of sponsors that have stuck with us this year, Insta-Gators Landscaping , B&K Used Auto Parts and Penske Race shocks. Also a special thanks to Bobby Sears for another great motor under the hood," stated Bristol.
Racing Friday at Orlando at 8p.m. Saturday at New Smyrna is at 7:30p.m. Watch for the #30 to be a contender.
