NLMS Race at Lake City Speedway Postponed | Lake City Fla. April 13, 2003-- Jennings Florida’s Dusty Cone, and Albany Ga.’s Cale Simons was poised and ready as they sat on the front row for Saturday nights feature race at Lake City, a race they had been waiting for now for several weeks due to a rain out earlier in the year.
During the week, in preparation for the 2003 season, Lake City Speedway Officials were in the process of resurfacing the track. “ We got caught by two solid days of rain earlier in the week and that got us behind” said track promoter Jimmy Parker. Water deep in the track and a dry layer on top from Saturday’s sun, created a dusty condition that was deemed to be just too unsafe by the drivers and officials. There were two attempts to get the race going, but with a couple of cars getting together in turn three, and cars were stopping from the drivers not being able to see one another, the race was red-flagged. “We came here to race and that is what we wanted to do but you just could not see” said driver Michael Lloyd. After red flagging the race, NLMS officials along with the Speedway officials decided to postponed the event until a later date.
The next event scheduled for the “Southern Dirt Tour” will be at Cochran Motor Speedway April 25 and 26th.
