2002 Late Model Champion Biran Bellaw Starts 2003 Season with new Sponsors | Samsula, Fla - Brian Bellaw, 2002 Late Model Champion at New Smyrna Speedway, was not sure he would race again after the season's ending. Bellaw, who has raced with the help of his family and himself, realized that the expense of racing had just gotten beyond his means and without a sponsor could not return.
Bellaw put everything up for sale and had resigned to the fact that he could not leave racing but would help other racers to be near the sport he loves. But as they say, "good things come to good people" and in walked Roger Asa Entertainment, Inc.
Sponsors are not easy to come by in local racing but Roger Asa Entertainment, Inc. saw a winner in Bellaw and a new venue for advertising Jolly Roger's Seafood and Steaks and Blackies Saloon. Bellaw and his new sponsor returned to New Smyrna Speedway last Saturday, April 5, with a winning attitude and new determination and took home the first place trophy.
Bellaw, who was the 1996 Mini Stock Champion at Orlando SpeedWorld, has only run two full points season but won the championship in both years. When he accomplished everything he could, he went to the Late Model division. Fans will remember the close racing and sometimes alittle while - Brian Bellaw and Bobby Sears Mini Stock matches.
In 1977, Brian won the Jamie Nuckles Memorial in Quarter Midgets and has several Quarter Midget Championships under his belt.
Jolly Roger's Seafood and Steaks is located at 2235 S. Volusia Avenue in Orange City. Every third Saturday of the month, Jolly Roger's holds "Classic Cruise" night from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. showcasing antique cars, customs, street rods, and the ever popular muscle cars. Wednesday night is the popular "karoke" night and live comedy shows. Blackies Saloon is a great place to spend some fun time.
