Track Improvements Are Happening at Orlando SpeedWorld | by John Barker BITHLO, FLORIDA – Orlando Speedworld continues its race track improvements for 2003 and is currently doubling its pit size area to accommodate drivers.
Last Friday’s car count was 105, the track’s third ever largest count. Will this upgrade help drivers in their racing quests?
“We feel this pit size addition will assist many competitors who have to travel to Orlando Speedworld an opportunity to have a key parking area when they arrive for racing,” said Dick Westfall, Orlando Speedworld FASCAR promoter.
“Traveling to the speedway late Friday during high local traffic hours causes many drivers to have to settle for an uncomfortable pit area location and that has to change,” Westfall continued.
Bulldozers and other construction equipment have already begun working to start the initial phase of leveling needed areas.
“Much of what needed to be done to the speedway for race fans is well under way, but the driver hasn’t been overlooked since they put on our show,” said Don Nerone, from FASCAR headquarters and sister track New Smyrna Speedway in Samsula, FL.
Racing starts at 8 p.m. at Orlando Speedworld. Orlando Speedworld is located .6 mile west of SR 520 on SR 50 (south side of the road).
