Orlando SpeedWorld Hopes "The Third Time" is the Charm | by Jane Smith Bithlo, Fla - After being rained out for the last two consecutive Fridays, Orlando SpeedWorld hopes the old saying "the third time is the charm" holds true for the opening of the 2003 Team FASCAR SpeedWorld Racing Season.
After a three month layoff at SpeedWorld, racers are ready to return to the "bullring" in Bithlo. On the program for Friday night, March 28, are the Super Late Models, Open Wheel Modifieds, Sportsman, Mini Stocks, Super Stocks, and Strictly Stocks. Also, the Classic Auto Racing Series will make their first appearance in 2003.
Florida State Senator Bill Posey of Rockledge hopes to be one of the Classic Car competitors on Friday night at SpeedWorld. Posey recently got his first experience on driving dirt when the Classics visited Thundercross Motorsports Park. Well known for his Super Late Model driving, Posey hopes to compete in as many Classic races as his busy schedule will allow him this year.
Daryl Grief of Deland was the winner at the Thundercross event with Frank Conrad, Joey Strehle, Ben Booth, Greg Helton, Bud Spencer, Al Hagan, E.B. Carr, George Hall, Jr. and Patrick "Bam Bam" Sanders filled out the top ten. Expect these drivers and many more on Friday night.
With no races on the books yet, there are no point leaders at Orlando SpeedWorld but you can be sure that after Friday night, it will be a good battle throughout the year for the division championships.
Orlando SpeedWorld racing starts at 8 p.m.
