New Smyrna Speedway Hosts Hooter's ProCup on March 28 | By Jane Smith Samsula, Fla - For the second year in a row, the Hooter's ProCup Series will take on the high banks of New Smyrna Speedway on March 28 along with the FASTRUCKS for one exciting night of racing.
Florida drivers expected in the line-up for the Hooter's ProCup race are Mario Gosselin, last year's pole sitter for the New Smyrna race, Pinellas Park drivers David Pletcher and Billy Mowery, Derrick Kelley, Luke Hill, Keith Roggen.and Andrew Medline of Largo, Florida.
Last year's winner was Bobby Gill with Hal Goodson in second. Twenty five of thirty six cars finished the 250 lap event.
Going into the third race of the season, Shane Huffman leads the Southern Division in points.
FASTRUCKS will run a 50 lap event with an expected 35 trucks in the pits. Expected entries are the winners of the three previous races, Jimmy Gill who won at Orlando SpeedWorld, Jeff Firestine who won at Citrus County Speedway and Bobby Owens winner at Bronson Motor Speedway. Top runners like Paul Grynewicz and Paul Grynewicz III, Wendell Bristol, Tim Shaffner, Gary Foxworth, James Wright III, John Mitchell and many more are expected.
Tommy King holds the points lead with Wendell Bristol, Jimmy Gill, Jeff Guibault, and Jeff Firestine in the top five.
Regular racing will resume on April 5 at New Smyrna Speedway with Super Lates, Lates, Open Wheel Modifieds, Sportsman, Super Stocks, Mini Stocks and Strictly Stocks.
Grandstands will open at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, with Hooter ProCup qualifying at 5 p.m. Drivers will hold a autograph session at 6:15 p.m. at the grandstands. Racing will start at 7:30 p.m.
