Garvey Scores Jani-King 200 Pole at USA International for Tonight's Jani-KIng 200 | Lakeland, FL (March 22, 2003) – Mike Garvey turned the fastest lap in qualifying for tonight’s ASA Racing Series Jani-King 200 at USA International Speedway. Garvey of Atlanta (OH) toured the .75-mile oval in 21.575 seconds at 125.145 mph. This is his 13th career pole.
Minnesota competitor Joey Miller qualified in second position, earning a career best starting position. Rookie Scott Lagasse of St. Augustine (FL) placed third with a lap of 21.654 seconds at 124.688 mph. Robbie Pyle placed fourth with Ohio racer Glenn Allen Jr. rounding out the top-five qualifiers.
Florida drivers that qualified for ASA’s season opening event include Lagasse of St. Augustine in third, Mike Cope of Tampa in 17th, Justin Drawdy of Ft. Pierce in 29th, Ed Brown of Leesburg in 31st and Travis Kittleson in 32nd.
Tickets are still available for tonight’s Jani-King 200. ASA’s On-Track Fan Autograph session begins at 7 p.m. with pre-race ceremonies starting at 8. Driver introductions are scheduled for 8:20 with the National Anthem and the command to start engines set for approximately 8:45. The Jani-King 200 goes green at 9.
