Tampa Bay Area Racing Sprints Ready To Thrill Charlotte Race Fans

PUNTA GORDA, Fla - The winged sprint cars of the (TBARA) will bring their lightning-fast act to Charlotte County Speedway on Saturday night.

The sprints will highlight a racing program that includes five other car divisions.

Although this will be the first stop of 2003 season at the Punta Gorda
3/8-mile paved oval for the sprints, they have run four races at other
tracks. The most recent was March 1 at Sunshine Speedway in St. Petersburg, where Shane Butler of Bushnell took checkers.

He is currently fifth in points. His brother, Keith of Riverview, is the points leader with Wayne Reutimann Sr. of Zephryhills second.

The sprints will run heats and a 25-lap feature Saturday night at CCS.

Considering two track records have already fallen this season at the
repaved CCS, the sprints could be next in line.

Other divisions running Saturday include open wheel modifieds, Pro 4
open-wheelers, super stocks, road warriors, thunder trucks and fan
participation.

The front gates open at 4 p.m. and racing begins at 7 p.m.

Admission is $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens and $7 for children ages 11 and under.

Charlotte County Speedway is located off Exit 161 off I-75 on Piper Road in Punta Gorda. For more information, call 575-7223.
