CHARLOTTE COUNTY SPEEDWAY REPAVED, PITS MOVED | PUNTA GORDA, Fla. -- While offseason usually isnt a very busy time at an auto race track, Charlotte County Speedway has been bustling with activity in preparation for the 2003 season.
Major improvements are well under way, including a complete repaving of the Punta Gorda 3/8-mile oval.
Also, the inside pit area has been moved to the outside. The inside wall in the turns and backstretch have been torn down. The technical inspection area and Holeshot parts trailer has also been moved outside to the new pit area behind turns one and two.
It all adds up to much better viewing for the fans sitting in the grandstands as well as the hills in turns three and four.

That schedule will include late models, open wheel modifieds, road warriors, thunder trucks and super stock. The super stock class is new, combining street stock and pure stock. Also racing will be the new 4-cylinder front wheel drive class.
Charlotte County Speedway will race on Saturday nights throughout the spring into the summer. There will be a late summer break in July and August before racing resumes through the fall.
