$3,000 Chassis Challenge for All Star Sprints at East Bay | by Jean Lynch
Tampa, Fla..1/27-03...Four major chassic manufactures along with 2VHL, the new owners of East Bay Raceway Park, have come up with a unique way to reward the chassis builder's top drivers.
On Friday, February 14, 2003, an inaugural event will take place during the All Star Circuit of Champions' portion of the East Bay 27th Annual Winternationals. The special race has appropriately been named the "Chassis Challenge".
Chuck Merrill of Maxim, Jack Elam of J&J, Jay Jonas from Agenger and Brian Schnee of Schnee Chassis have all agreed to an eight-car, 15-lap "Challenge of the Chassis" for the top two drivers in each of their respective chassis, determined by East Bay Winter- national points prior to the event.
Each manufacturer has posted $500 for a total of $2,000 and East Bay has added another $1,000, for a total purse of $3,000. The winner will get $1,000 with the $600 going to the runner-up. Third place earns $425; fourth $300; fifth $200; sixth $175; seventh $150 and eighth $150.
Al Varnadore, President of 2VHL says, "It's not too late for other manufacturer to join the Chassis Challenge. They can just call East Bay toll-free at 1-877-457-5611 and indicate they would like to be part of this event." Have an opinion on this story?
