Bobby Orr Named Honorary Starter for Pete Orr Memorial Orange Blossom 125 | Samsula, Fla - FASCAR announced today that the youngest son of Charles "Pete" Orr will be the Honorary Starter of the first annual Pete Orr Memorial Orange Blossom 125 sponsored by the Daytona News Journal on January 25th.
Young Orr has made his own mark in the two short years he has been racing winning the 2002 Mini Stock Championship at Orlando SpeedWorld. In 2003, he will wheel the #30 Late Model owned by Bobby McClelland.
"My dad was a great racer and I cannot think of a nicer honor than to be the honorary starter for his race," said Orr. "Dad won this race four times, I only hope that I can honor him by winning it someday" he concluded.
Due to frigid weather, the colest weather that Florida has seen this winter, the race was postponed from January 18th to January 25th.
There will be a Media Night on January 24th with all media invited to New Smyrna Speedway to interview and photograph the drivers for the first annual Daytona News Journal sponsored Pete Orr Memorial Orange Blossom 125. FASCAR officials will greet the media at 6:30 with food and beverage being served. Also, media are invited to take a spin around New Smyrna Speedway in the Pennzoil race car and get a feel of what the drivers experience.
Qualifying will be on January 25th at 6:00 p.m. Racing action will begin at 7:30 p.m. with all FASCAR divisions racing "features only" along with the Pete Orr Memorial Orange Blossom 125.
