"I'm
noticing a turn of the tide on racing Web sites like Florida's
Karnac.com, the gathering place for the most dedicated race
fans in the state." -Orlando Sentinel
October 3, 2009, Bradenton Florida. It was a beautiful night to be at the South’s Fastest Short track and watch a lot of close racing by all of the classes. But just when you think you have it all figured out, up steps young Mr. Tyler Lau to put on a seminar on how to step into a racecar for the first time; and win.
That is exactly what he did. Tyler Lau went North for the summer and did not get behind the wheel of a race car for months, you see he was trying to earn money for his college expenses. He shows up at the speedway tonight and bingo. He jets into the #12 truck and wins the feature Race.
This young guy has a boat load of talent and somebody needs to “discover” him. Everytime he gets into a racecar he proves how exceptionally good he really is behind the wheel . Oh by the way, he is smart too. He is a straight A student at USF. The Lau parents have a lot to be proud of in this son of theirs.
The Pro Trucks ran a 6 lap heat race which was won by Nick Hernandez in the red #37 truck. The feature 50 lap race was very close the entire race but Tyler Lau took the checkered flag in the #12 truck. Taking second place was Stephen Darvalics in the #41 truck and Lance Dubach in the #77 truck won third place.
Magic 4’s. The Magic 4 kids ran a 6 lap heat race which was won by Joann Danielson in the #38 car. The feature 20 lap race was won by Brittany Barr in the #81 car. Austin Cavey drove a wonderful race and took second place in the #20 car while Dallas Troyer in the #01 car won third place. The entire field of Magic 4’s drove a really good and close race.
Flyin 4’s. The adult version of the Magic 4’s is well known now as the Flyin 4’s. Racing on the big oval they duel and rub and grind just like the other class’s. This is a new class this season and it has captured the hearts of the fans for sure. The Flyin 4’s ran a 6 lap heat race which was won by Dalton Baldwin in the #4 car. The feature 20 lap race was won by Randy Johnson in the #01 car.
Derrick Horton in the #86 car took second and Arthur Danielson in the #38 car won third. The entire staff of Desoto Super Speedway would like to thank Derrick Horton for making the drive and racing with us tonight as he is a regular at Charlotte County Motorsports Park and it took a lot of effort to make the trip.
Rockem Sockem Bombers. The Rockem-Sockem boys put on another fine show for the fans. They rubbed paint, bumped bumpers and went backwards into walls, all for the love of the sport. The Bombers ran a 6 lap heat race with Jody “The Bad Boy” Collins winning the heat. The 20 lap feature was also won by Collins in the #32C car. John “The Mayor” Stewart took second place and Steve “The Hammer” Elder took third.
Michael “The Punisher” Crooks was second fast and lost control going into the wall backwards. He pitted the car and came back out only to go into the wall again but this time he took Todd “The Tank” Jacobs with him. The bombers did their thing and went home smiling.
Street Stocks. The car count was really low for the Street Stocks so they ran with the trucks but Dennis Wilson in the #42 car won the 6 lap heat and Derek Lucas in the #88 car won the feature race for the Street Stocks.
Outlaw Modified. The Outlaw Modified series came to the track to strut some stuff and they did that for sure. They ran two 6 lap heat races with Craig Shetur in the #56 car winning the first heat and Garrett Green in the #3 car winning the second heat race. The 25 lap feature race was won by Doug Hopper in the #15 car. The three time champion took an early lead and never let up. Craig Shetur in the #56 car took second while Tom meyer in the #04 car won third place.
