The Suncoast Outlaw Street Stocks were back at the Charlotte County Motorsports Park for United States Postal Service night at the races. Shane Leonard was fast qualifier for the fifty lap race, with a lap time of 16.908. Leonard started in the fourth spot, with Danny Daniels Jr on the pole for his first race in the Outlaw Street Stocks. On the start of the race Daniels and outside pole sitter Austin Craig battled for the lead. Craig was able to clear Daniels for the lead on lap three. Craig led until lap seventeen when Shane Leonard took the lead from Craig. On lap thirty four something happened to Leonard’s car, which handed the lead to Dave Davis. Davis led the remainder of the race and took the victory. Austin Craig finished second with Ricky Partridge in third.
Chelsea Lajoie started on the pole for the twenty five lap feature in the Fab 4 race. Bronson Lawson took the lead from Lajoie by lap two and went on to win. Lajoie finished second and John Pummel Jr was third. Bronson Lawson was disqualified in tech, which handed the win to Lajoie with Pummel in second and Jason Perkins third.
The Pro 4’s came out for their fifty lap switch off race. Bronson Lawson won the first twenty five lap race and handed the driving duties over to David Moor. Eugene Connell was second and Wally Smith took over for the other twenty five laps. Logan Leonard was third and Ken Smith took over. David Moor led most of the second part of the switch off until something started breaking in the motor. Wally Smith took the lead from Moor on lap forty eight and went on for the win. David Moor was able to finish second and Ken Smith third. The team of Bronson Lawson and David Moor was disqualified on tech, putting the team of Logan Leonard and Ken Smith second and moving Jason Perkins and Jeremy Perkins to third.
Jeremy Gerstner won his first race in three years in the Open Wheel Modified thirty five lap race. Eric Rudd and Kyle Bookmiller completed the top three.
In the Road Warrior twenty five lap race Don Jericka and Jeff Firestine battled for the lead throughout the whole race. Don Jericka was able to hold back Firestine for the win with Dawn Jericka coming in third.
The last race of the evening was the “Run what you brung” Figure 8 feature. Ken Smith started on the pole with Jeff Firestine on the outside pole. Firestine jumped to the early lead and led until lap eight when Michael Laplant got around Firestine for the lead. Michael Laplant and Ricky Partridge battled for the lead for several of laps. Laplant took home his first Figure 8 victory with Ricky Partridge in second and Ken Smith third.
This coming Saturday night will be “ Boy Scout and Pepsi night at the races “ . The Super Late Models will be back with Road Warriors, Thunder Trucks, Pro 4, Fab 4, Mini Stock and CCMP Street Stocks
