Harold Cannon started on the pole for the 50 lap Open Wheel Modified race at the Charlotte County Motorsports Park, this past Saturday night. On the start of the race going into turn one the #99 driven by Sean McLaughlin went spinning up the track, which caused a complete restart. Sean McLaughlin would take the lead by lap one. McLaughlin would stay there to take home the victory, but Wayne “The Rocket man” Jefferson in the# 61 did not make it easy for him. Jefferson was hot on his heels for a number of laps but was never able to pass McLaughlin and had to settle for second with Harold Cannon in the # 3 coming in third place.
The Pro 4’s had another great race with Logan Leonard in the #57 walking away from the field to capture the victory. David Amelotte in the 85 came home in second with #30 of Brandon Reichart rounding out your top 3.
Thunder Trucks went at it for 15 laps. On the start the 63 of James Wright got loose and got into the 69 truck of Tom Pryor. Both trucks kept going so no caution was brought out. Lance Sober in the 2 truck captured the victory with James Dellea in the 14 truck in second and James Wright third.
Briggs Karts came out for a 12 lap expedition show. The Burns family had a top 3 sweep, with Kellie Burns winning, Mike Burns second and dad Pete Burns third.
Wayne Morris got the victory in the 35 lap Sportsman race. The # 22 of Ron Abney and Andy Alan in the #1 were racing hard and got together on lap 29.. Abney was not happy with the contact and hit Alan’s car under caution, which resulted in Abney getting disqualified for the evening. LJ Grimm brought the #25 home in second and Cal Castle #98 in third.
Bruce Gertes in the 8L won for the second week in a row in the Fab 4, with Josh Flesher in the # 55 second and #4 of Rose Macho third.
Jessie Dutilly pulled off another victory in the Mini Stocks. Derrick Horton whose Pro 4 car proved that he could keep up with them finished second and Joe Rice completed the top 3
On the start of the Road Warrior race the 24 car of Jeff Pacheo went spinning into turn one losing his tire and axle. Gary McFall in the #24 got the win, Jeff Firestein in the #32 this week finished second and the #7 of Blaine Baer completed the top 3.
It will be another exciting weekend of racing at the Charlotte County Motorsports Park. Starting with Go Kart racing on Friday night. Saturday will see Outlaw Modified 35, race # 7 for the Fastruck and Fast kids, Road Warrior 50, Pro 4, Fab 4, Figure 8, Boat figure 8,CCMp Daytona Champ Karts, Briggs Kart and Fan Participation.
