The Checkered Flag Sprint Series (CFSS) were at Charlotte County Motorsports Park on Saturday October 11 for a 30 lap feature race.
Amanda Ferguson had the pole again for the start of the feature race and again she got away clean to take the early lead. The first caution of the race came early on lap 3 when several cars made contact at turn two, leaving the 79DD driven by Dakotah Stephens needing to be towed off the track and sending 79 driven by David Slawiak into the pits for a tire change.
The 79 made it back out before the race got back underway but it was the end of the night for the 79DD. The race got back to green with the 21A still in the lead but the pack now right on her tail. Just one lap later on lap 4, Keith Butler who had started from 7th position, took the race lead and started to pull away from the field. Butler proved to be unbeatable, winning the feature race, the Barfield’s Clean Sweep and the Real Racin’ USA Hard Charger Award.
T.Q. Midgets saw Ernie Teed jr. win the 25 lap featured event with Jack Durfee second and Mike Belusar third.
Road Warriors had another wild night of racing as Blaine Baer jumped out front for the first nine laps till the 38 of Gary McFall took over the lead. McFall had to start in the rear of the field after last weeks altercation with the 29 and wasted no time charging to the front to go on to win the race, and also was cleared for his forth win meeting with tech. They don’t call them Venice Bad Boys for nothing, as the 32C driven by Jody Collins was the one Dqed this week for unsportsman like conduct when he deliberately hit the 97 of Chris Scott for the second time. Chris Onken was able to make it to the second finishing spot and Blaine Baer held on for third.
Dwarf cars saw Mike Belasar win the feature with Roger Richmond second and John Bailey third.
The legends had there final race of the year at CCMP where series owner Kevin Williams put Ross Chastain into one of his cars and it paid off as Ross Chastain won the feature and Josh Williams of North Port came in second and James Rodriquez was third.
It only took the Pro 4 class ten minutes to run there 25 lap feature with sixteen cars taking the green but it will take some time for the chatter to settle about those ten minutes. Stuart Vandevender in the 36 led the first fifteen laps when the 09 of Danny Daniels got by him to go on to win the race. The race was caution free and 14 cars finished the race and when all the pushing and shoving and dirt racing was done it was the 28 of Dylan Bigley who finished second and Walley Smith third.
The Outlaw street stock ran 50 laps with only one caution to be thrown with two laps to go. Donnie Ollie Jr took the led off of Austin Craig driving the 10 on lap six and with no cautions the 30 of Richie Shepard had some driving to do to chase down Ollie, until lap 48 when the caution came out. With two laps to go the green was thrown and shepard smashed the gas and went high coming out of turn three which left the bottom open for Carig and Laplant in the 28 who at lap 49 crossed the line behind Ollie 28 then 10. On the last lap it was close coming out of three and the call from the officials was that Shepard spun Laplant so Laplant was given his spot back as the second place finisher and the 10 of Austin Craig who has been a real contender lately was third. Head Flagman Greg Roeback does not led the last lap “spin the leader or who is in front of you” go unpunished when he is waving that checkered.
Neil Hampton got his first win in the Fab 4 class as he took the checkered flag first with John Pummell Jr. second and the 16 of Bruce Gerdes made it back up to third in six laps after having to pit on lap 18.
Tom Pryor made it two in a row as him and Randy Kile battled for 25 laps with Pryor doing everything he could to hold off Kile. This class may be small but it sure has the fans hanging around to see the battle between the trucks, Randy Kile would have to settle for second and John Balzarano would finish third.
Next weeks racing should be one of the biggest shows yet at CCMP when the ASA late models have there Championship 100 race. There is always so much going on at CCMP so you can Visit the web site for more info and all updates at charlottecountyracing.com

The Friday night Go Kart program has been steadily growing and here is a recap of Friday nights racing
Three new winners, three regulars win in Charlotte karts
Three first-time winners and three racers who have made the checkered flag lap part of their weekend routine were first to the podium Friday night during kart racing under the lights at Charlotte County Motorsports Park. Each of the six divisions, from Kid Karts to the 80 mph TAG division, had wheel-to-wheel racing in the heats and feature final as 28 drivers took to the asphalt under a clear sky. In the TAG class, Richard Nicholson won his second straight race of the new points season, dominating the 14-lap final and cruising to a half-a-lap victory. Joel Traub, who entered the race second in the points, kept that position with a solid runner-up finish, while Danny Colleli was third. In the Briggs Heavy division, Danny Daniels passed Mike Burns on one of the course's big, sweeping turns with about five laps to go and went on to his first win of the new points season. Burns finished second while Damien Winn was third. In Briggs Light, Ann Hayden took her first win, leading from start to finish and in the process claimed the top spot in the points, just ahead of Kelli Burns, who was second in the race. Zeb Davis claimed the third position. In the Cadet class, Sasha Brun-Wibaux shot out to a big lead early and never was challenged in winning her second straight race. Steven Mays was second and Joshua Noonan third. Sasha's night wasn't quite over, as the event's proclaimed "trophy girl" helped pass out the trophies to all the top finishers after the event. In the Easy 60 division, Emily Boddy was first to the checkered flag in winning for the second straight week. In Kid Karts, Tyler Meis won his first race, beating Aden McKinney and Sabastian Jarry.
