Alex Boerner goes to Victory Lane in Limited Late Models

Well over 100 cars were on hand at the Clay By the Bay for another exciting night of dirt track racing. East Bay Raceway Park was rocking and rolling as the packed grandstand saw 5 great classes of racing again.
The Motorstats.com Street Stocks hit the track first for their 15-lap feature event. David Roberts started in the 7th position and quickly made his way to the front of the field. He was able to hold off the challenge of Donnie Reed and Buck Skinner to take his second feature win in a row. Reed finished 2nd. Skinner, 3rd in points coming into the night finished 3rd. Danny Hill finished 4th and Gary Sheffield rounded out the top-5. Matthew Grissom and Buck Woodhouse won the heats.
In the Limited Late Models 17 year old Alex Boerner started on the front row. Boerner who is a regular driver in the Gagel’s Open Wheeled Modified division quickly passed pole sitter Tommy Prince for the lead. Boerner in only his 3rd time running in this class was able to hold off veteran racer Tim Gay on numerous restarts to take the victory. JR Prather, Jr. finished 2nd. William Pugh started 8th and finished 3rd. John Bradley finished 4th and Gay rounded out the top-5. Daniel Woody, Boerner and Gay won the heat races.
The Late Models put on another great show for the packed grandstand with their 25-lap feature event. Jeff Mathews won his second feature event of the season in the Late Models holding off the hard charging Josh Peacock winner of last Late Model event at East Bay. Peacock finished 2nd. Jimmy Waldrop scored his 1st top 5 of the season with a 3rd place finish. Points leader KD Kelley started 14th and came home 4th. Roger Crouse rounded out the top-5. Peacock and Prather, Jr. won the heats.
Tim George was victorious in a caution filled Limited Sprint event. Gene Lasker started the race off with a first lap tumble down the backstretch. Fortunately Lasker was able to walk away from the accident. Danny Jones challenged for the lead and finished 2nd. Kurt Taylor had a strong run from 15th starting position to finish 3rd. Rick Martin started last and finished 4th. Clint Reynolds was the 5th place finisher. Lasker and Tony Agin won the heat races.
In the Convire 4 cylinder bombers points leader Frank Miller won his class leading 6th feature of the season. Collin Kruse finished 2nd. Kyle Eash scored his 2nd top 5 of the year with a 3rd place finish. Bubba Puyear finished 4th. David Finch scored his first top-5 of the year with a 5th place finish. DW Lester, Eash, and George Christiansen won the heat races.
ASA sanctioned racing resumes at East Bay Raceway Park Saturday, October 18 2008 at 6:30pm . Late Models, Gagel’s Open Wheel Modifieds, Motorstats.com Street Stocks, Outlaw 4’s, and Convire 4 Cylinder Bombers will all be in action.
