Karnac.com, the gathering place for the most dedicated race
fans in the state." -Orlando Sentinel
With all the distractions the fall brings, football, hunting, fishing, the Bronson Motor Speedway faithful still turned out for a great night of short track racing under the lights. The Limited Sportsman, Super Stocks, Thunder Stocks and Hornet Divisions were all is action. The fans once again took advantage of the ten dollar adult admission and kids 11-under were admitted free. Two more weeks of racing featuring local drivers, then the grand finale “Crash-A-Palooza” on the 27th of September.
A wild night of Hornet Racing concluded with two winners being crowned. Mike Vorsek won the Rear Wheel Drive Feature and John Cassells took home the top spot in the Front Wheel Drive Division. They both had to dodge many accidents and mishaps in route to their respective wins.
Larry Welter, Jr of Williston was able to hold off a charging Steve Hise of Inverness to capture another win in the Thunder Stock Division. The two were inseparable throughout the entire event. For a time it looked as if Hise was just waiting to make his move, but as the laps led down Welter had enough to take home the win with Hise second and Larry Welter, Sr third.
Bronson’s Tommy Ausburn finally got the monkey off his back and returned to Victory Lane! Brent Cooper of Dunnellon had been his nemesis all season but finally Ausburn was able to best Cooper and the rest of a good field of Super Stocks. Jason Murphee would come home third and Frank Stromquist held on for fourth.
