"I'm
noticing a turn of the tide on racing Web sites like Florida's
Karnac.com, the gathering place for the most dedicated race
fans in the state." -Orlando Sentinel
There was lots of excitement at Bronson Motor Speedway Saturday night as all kids in attendance got to take a lap around the speedway in a race car. To the delight of many fans, Jim Higginbotham (Who races in the Sportsman Division) brought his Busch Grand National Michael Waltrip Racing NAPA Race Car, equipped with a ride along seat, out to the speedway and took several folks for a lap or two around the track. Several drivers brought their machines onto the front stretch during intermission and helped take the kids for a ride!
The action then heated up in the Feature Races with 11 Limited Sportsman taking to the track for their 30 lap feature. Gainesville’s William Edwards would take the early lead with Jim Higginbotham in tow. Charging through the field was Chiefland’s Shelton Bowers, High Springs Matt Blum and Odessa’s Rick Kase. Blum and Bowers would make contact, causing both to spin. Harold Edwards could not avoid Blum and made contact, ending Blum’s night. Rick Kase in his 35 Med Corp Interiors Machine then passed Edwards and charged to his first Victory at Bronson Motor Speedway. Inglis’s Mike Baker cruised to second, with Edwards having to settle for third.
In Super Stock action, Dunnellon’s Brent Cooper cruised to victory again and in Victory Lane announced it was him and his Wife Alden’s 12 Wedding Anniversary! Now that’s a great way to spend your anniversary- Winning Races! Bronson’s Tommy Ausburn would take home second, followed by Williston’s Larry Welter, Jr and Monteverde’s Kyle Peters came home fourth.
Lots of great racing in the Thunder Stock division and when all shook out, Monteverde’s James Peters would pilot his # 5 machine to victory lane. Several laps of racing with Larry Welter, Jr and his Dad Larry, Sr. putting on a heck of a show! They would have to settle for second and third followed by Aaron Welter and Norm Brown.
