"I'm
noticing a turn of the tide on racing Web sites like Florida's
Karnac.com, the gathering place for the most dedicated race
fans in the state." -Orlando Sentinel
On Saturday Night Mother Nature cooperated and the rain held off for Bronson Motor Speedway’s first ever Political Rally. Many local politicians and one State Representative were on hand for the festivities. Although the rain did keep a few fans away, the pit area was loaded with cars. The setting was perfect for a great night of racing and political saber rattling. The heat races were run with only a couple of minor incidents. Afterward the stage was set up and the front stretch and the political wrangling began. Each candidate was given three minutes to discuss why they should be your next choice for a vote. Once the speeches were over it was time to go racing to the delight of all who were in attendance. Many of the political figures hung around and visited with fans and enjoyed the great racing action Bronson Motor Speedway offers every Saturday Night.
In Limited Sportsman action, a controversial start allowed the pole sitter, William Edwards to jump into an early lead. Edwards led fellow racer Shelton Bowers into the waning laps of the 30 lap event. As Edwards bobbled slightly, Bowers made contact and seized the top spot. Clearly frustrated, Edwards regained his composure to finish second. Mike Baker brought the 02 machine home in third. After the race, Bowers apologized for the contact in victory lane.
Another week of Super Stock action with the same result, Brent Cooper goes to victory lane again! It was a tight finish as all the leaders were in striking distance of the top spot. Tommy Ausburn came home second with Kyle Peters taking the third spot.
A rather large field of Thunder Stocks took the green flag in their feature event. Twelve cars roared to the line as Chief Starter Jimmy Durden waved the green. A very spirited battle between early leader Larry Welter, Sr. and James Peters raged to the front of the field. They raced nose to tail and side by side for most of the event. Unfortunately for Welter contact between him and Peters sent him into the infield with a flat tire. James Peters held on for the win followed by Jeff Eisenhower and Todd Brown.
In Hornet competition, Dustin Hughes overcame a slow start and a lengthy caution to notch another win in the front wheel drive division. Daniel Cummings was victorious in the rear wheel driver division.
