Putnam County Speedway Races Against the Coca Cola 600

Putnam County Speedway will over come the Daytona race for 2008. As the drivers and the fans start to pay to get into the track, the weather looks great and the management is pleased with the turn out of 81 cars. The division to watch was the Modifieds with 23 cars scheduled to run for $800.00 to win. They had 3 heat races and one large feature race. With this being the largest car count Putnam County Speedway has had this season I could not leave anyone out. So I am going to post the whole finishing order for all divisions. Modified finishing order is: 1 Jeff Mathews 33, 2 Tiny Greene 54T, 3 Ronnie Soltis 61, 4 Larry Burkins 54, 5 Alex Boerner 3, 6 Dale Murray 66, 7 Robert Johnston 44, 8 James Langley 18, 9 Ronnie Newsome 11, 10 James Smith 19, 11 Trevor Merrell 16, 12 Jeff Bagent 94, 13 Darren Smith 41, 14 Tim Brown 429, 15 Greg Vandergriff, 16 Jason Dyal 11d, 17 David Moheng 12, 18 Mike Tripp 23, 19 David Crews Jr.10, 20 David Crews 42, 21 Matthew Permann 7p, 22 Allen Thomas F90, 23 John Bradley 79.
The division who has led the car count this season will come to the track with 14 cars to start the feature event. As the Sullivans start on the front row, the rest of the field hoping to just keep up with them 2 boys who has been dominating this year. The finishing order is as follows: 1 Art Sullivan 17d, 2 Troy Sullivan 11, 3 Casey Feaster 20, 4 Joshua Wade Conkey 84, 5 James Shaw 32, 6 Tonya Lewis 64, 7 David Knight B8, 8 James Shaw Sr 23, 9 Greg Bryson 99b, 10 Darren Anderson 13, 11 Robert Graham 21, 12 Gerard Haley 99, 13 Larry Langston 49, 14 Cody Sullivan 28.
The Hobby Stock division will have a awesome turn out and a great race also. As adrenaline rises and tempers start to get the best of the drivers, 15 laps seems to be the shortest race ever. The Hobby Stocks had 2 heat races with 14 cars total count. Hobby Stock results are as follows: 1 David Miller Jr 21, 2 Randy Strehle 24s, 3 Kenny Durham 24, 4 Bruce Birkett 9, 5 Randy Moody 13, 6 Richard Adams 24a, 7 Bubba Christian 04, 8 Marty Smith 18, 9 Shawn Taylor 99, 10 Chris Doane 00, 11 Bobby Rivers 17, 12 Jimmy Bobby 116, 13 Micheal Moore 21b, 14 Danny Miller Jr 99m.
Mini Stocks division will have the largest car count for there division of the season. As the talk starts at the gate, tempers and aggravation start to get the best of some of the drivers before they even take to the track for there hot laps. With 12 cars and 2 heat races. The field will finish like this: 1 Brack Gill 35g, 2 Kevin Estep E1, 3 Jamie Farris 34, 4 Justin Carney 57, 5 Jay Farris 33, 6 Brandon Estep 55, 7 Frank Prouty 14, 8 Christopher Prouty 26, 9 Blake Spencer 82, 10 Rick Sullivan 21, 11 Jesse Howell 32, 12 Keith Briggs 19t who broke transmission, but will be back racing with us this weekend.
The V-8 Pure Stocks will also have there largest car count of the year. Will have 10 cars and 2 heat races. Bennett will win again, only loosing 2 races for the season. The V-8 Pure Stock will finish like this:1 Jerrid Bennett 12, 2 Johnathan Green 07, 3 Jack Miller 2, 4 George Whitehill 69, 5 Bobby Giles 65, 6 Tim Gigon 13, 7 Robert Burkes Jr 9H, 8 Russ Rhodes 97, 9 Bo Bosley 44, 10 Jim Holden 9H.
The other Bennett brother will win his 4th race of the season. Jacky Joe Bennett who is doing a great job this year in sportsman will only have a 1 ½ car length lead on Marc Kinley in the 17. Sportsman will finish as follows: 1 Jacky Joe Bennett 35, 2 Marc Kinley 17, 3 Chris Manucy 21, 4 Martin Johnson 83, 5 Richard Adams 23, 6 Derek Mullet 419, 7 Kevin Mills 01 who broke transmission but will be back this weekend.
Putnam County Speedway would like to think all the drivers and fans for coming to the track and being patient with us as it got late. Please come back this weekend for another night of great racing. Powder Puff races for the V-8 pure stocks will be this weekend, so ladies tell your men to move it on over. The sportsman, Hobbys, mini stocks, and the 4-cyl bombers along with the late models will return to the speedway for another night of great racing.
