The Mini Stocks Return to Putnam Speedway after a week with no winner!
Putnam County Speedway opens for its 3rd night of racing with the Modifieds, Mini Stocks, 4 cyl. bombers, V8 Thunder Stocks, and hobby Stocks. As tempers fly, adrenaline rises and the fans get on their feet for another great night of racing!
The hobby stock division takes to the field for a 15 lap main event, David Ham throws the green with Bruce Birkett taking lead over Miller in the 21. With Moody in the 13 and Ron Frank in the 41 battling for 3rd and 4th place. While the 9 of Bruce Birkett and the 21 of Miller gets a 1/2 straight away lead over the 3rd and 4th position. Miller and Birkett battle hard for 1st and 2nd. As the leaders catches the slower traffic of Sky Sanford in the 91. Bobby Rivers running 5th keeps his pace trying not to go a lap down. As the checkers come out the win will go to Bruce Birkett in the 9 with Miller finishing 2nd, Moody in 3rd, and Ron Frank finishing 4th, Bobby Rivers in 5th.
Modified main event of 20 laps and 9 cars starting, The 61 of Mike Tripp gets an early lead over Tiny Greene in the 54. Tripp and Greene battle for 1st and 2nd. Then Tripp finds himself having a flat tire goes in and changes it under caution, leaving Greene with the lead. Tripp comes back out taking the tail of the field. Spangler in the 1G who won last weeks main event, running 2nd to Greene, Blair running 3rd. When the green comes back out with Greene taking an early lead. Within 4 laps Greene and Tripp were battling for 1st place again. When the checkers came out Greene who held off Tripp in the 61 wins the race. Mike Tripp finishing 2nd. Garland Spangler in the 1G finishes 3rd. 19 of Kenny Blair gets 4th.
The V8 Thunder stock division had 5 cars for 15 laps. Green comes out with Jerrid Bennett in the 12 car taking an early lead over Jason Blackmer in the 69 running 2nd. As they come around to take lap 2 Jason Blackmer spins around but keeps going to tag the tail of the field. The caution comes out for the 07 of Jonathan Greene. They get lined back up with Bennett in the front. Miller who gets on the throttle quicker than Bennett gets the lead over Bennett. Miller who leads the races for 7 laps before the fuel pump goes out on Miller car. Caution. Bennett with the lead again. Greens out. Bennett wins the race with Jonathan Greene finishing 2nd. and the 7 car of Kevin Benjamin finishing 3rd. Jack Miller in 4th. Jason Blackmer in the 5th position. After the race the top three cars go to tech, Bill (techman) pulls the valve covers and checks the heads and the cams in the top 3. Bennett finds himself legal and keeps the win. The 69 car of Jason Blackmer who finished 3rd in the race finds himself being DQ'd, and finished 5th.
The 4 Cylinder Bombers takes to the track for there 15 lap main event with 15 cars starting. The 14 and the 11 of Sullivan start on the front row. Souther and Pawlak in the 2nd row. Lewis and Kopka in the 3rd row. When the green comes out the #14 takes the lead over Sullivan in the 11. With 1 lap in the book the caution comes out with the 64 of Lewis and the 126 getting to together in turn 4. They both go to the tail. Green comes back out and the 14 holds off Souther in the 21. As the race gets down to the final laps with Art Souther taking the lead over from the 14 who broke. Souther and Pawlak battling for 1st. Souther takes the win over Pawlak. Rick Sullivan finshing 3rd and Kopka in 4th. Top 3 cars went to tech. The outcome of tech left the 11 car of Sullivan winning the race. who actually finsihed 3rd. Josh Kopka in the 84 finishes 2nd. 1.6 of Pharron Morris finished 3rd, 4th was 32 of James "jumpin Jim" Shaw, 5th was Herrid Haley, and 6th was Tonya Lewis. Souther and Pawlak was DQ'd because of having illegal racing springs on the car.
The class who had the most DQ's and no winner last week returns to the speedway with there cars right and ready to go. Farris takes early lead over the 2nd place car of Carney. As the races whines down to the last 5 laps Brack Gill who was running 3rd was slipping away from the leader further and further away. While the 09 of Josh Leth is getting closer and closer to the 2nd place car of Carney. Checkers come out for Jamie Farris, last years points champion. Carney in the 57 finishes 2nd, 3rd was the 09 of Josh Leth, 4th was Mike Gibbs in the 74. All cars passed tech except for the 35g of Brack Gill, who was found illegal who actually finished 3rd. But the techman of Bill Fisher is not letting nothing slip by.
