Greg Anderson & Craig Amboyon Team For Street Stock Win at Charlotte

The KARNAC Suncoast Outlaw Street Stock 100 scheduled for 100 laps at Charlotte County Motorsports Park Saturday night was shortened due to rain. Eighteen street stocks took the green flag in the race, which featured two 50 lap segments with a different driver at the wheel in each segment. Promoter Gary LaPlant has been running this series at Charlotte and also at DeSoto Super Speedway during 2007.
After several first lap cautions, Jesse Dutilly put his #71 machine out front and set a pace no one else could match in the early going. By the time the race was at the 40 lap mark however, the #18 of Greg Anderson was dogging Dutilly for the lead. With lightning ripping the western skies and rain in the wind, Anderson took the lead from Dutilly with only 5 laps left before the halfway break for gas and driver switch. Two laps later Dutilly driving back hard to retake the lead spun Anderson in turn three and the 71 was sent to the rear. With so many lapped cars, Dutilly was back in 5th place at the break.
In the first half of the race, Robert Yoho taking the first shift in the #75 had a throttle stick providing a scary moment but was able to continue, allowing partner Jeff Scofield to take over at the halfway mark.
When the cars were gassed and ready to roll, Craig Amboyan, who relieved Anderson, was out front and in no time had a mirror full of the "Flying" Brian Beckner, a former Charlotte standout down from the Carolinas for the winter. Darrin Ellis, who relieved Dutilly was able to get door to door with Beckner and completed the pass for second at lap 64. Unfortunately lap 64 was the last lap of the race as a hard cold rain moved in off the Gulf of Mexico with a vengeance, ending the race with the Greg Anderson-Craig Amboyon team declared the winner.
Super late model star Jeff Scofield drove the 75 hard in opening laps of the second half but the car was just short on both power and handling, and several times Scofield was barely able to keep the car off the wall.
