IT'S TIME TO RACE!!

Jim Erb tops School Bus Figure 8 at Orlando
Cool weather greeted yet another standing room only crowd Friday night as Orlando Speedworld presented the Fall Crash-A-Rama. The event saw a record number of entries from as far away as Atlanta, GA and Louisville, KY, topping the 200 mark for the first time in the history of the wildly popular event.

Jim Erb and the E&H Car Crushing team added yet another School Bus Figure Eight winner's trophy to their collection. Erb fought off early challenger Corey Freed then held off a late surge by Ed "Speedo" Jager to claim yet another win in the "star" event of Crash-A-Rama. Jager held on for second then saw his bus topple on its side in turn one after he was hit on the slow-down lap. Jager was A-OK though. Fred Cole took third spot as 18 buses took the green flag.

The Skid Car race saw a record number of entries, most of which never completed the first lap. After a rough start, Kyle Bronson got it all together and claimed the win over Ron Abney and Jim Froman.

Bomber Bill Loomis put a great move on Jim Erb going around the flag pole on the white flag lap and came home the winner of the Flag Pole Race in the Tyler's Towing entry. Erb finished second ahead of Bobby Kelly.

Loomis came back to finish second in the wild Boat/Camper Trailer race but was well behind winner Moe Knauer. Jeremy Durham was third.
The Enduro race saw Strictly Stock regular David Leeper II cross the line in first place. Several cars not deemed "stock" had to start one lap down but Racin' Mason Love, Mike Gamache and Jay Seykora all made up their laps to finish second through fourth and nearly caught Leeper by race's end. Chris Meade was fifth.

Moe Knauer's "Orange" team took the honors in the Pro Roller Derby race while the Amateur Roller Derby saw a huge field which was topped by the Speedo team of Ed, Chris and Jay.

In Demolition Derby action it was Kevin Knauer topping Jim Froman and William Hindman in the Compact Demo Derby while Knauer also outlasted the rest of the field in the V-8 Demo Derby taking the win over Ron Abney and Ed "Speedo" Jager. The Ladies-only Mini Van Demo Derby was taken by Jenny Berrer over Terri Knauer.

Also on hand to both thrill and "warm up" the crowd was Doug Rose and the refurbished Green Mamba jet car. Rose literally incinerated two cars that were stacked on top of each other.

Charities also were big winners at Crash-A-Rama as the Bahia Shrine Temple of Orlando raised close to $2,000 through their 50/50 raffle, sending one fan home with nearly a grand in his pocket while the rest went to the Shriners Children's Hospitals.

A separate raffle was also held to raise money for the Helmick family, who will be the recipient of all donations collected at the upcoming Charity Trucker's 200 at Speedworld December 14th and 15th. The "kickoff" for that fundraiser netted nearly $400 donated by fans and race teams. Orlando Speedworld and C.A.R.S. Motorsports would like to thank the following for helping support the Helmick family and their daughter Kaleigh:

Palm Tree Computers of Oviedo
City Moda Shoes of Orlando and Kissimmee
U Save Car and Truck Rental of Titusville and Merritt Island Campbell's Home Rehab Services of Kissimmee

Brice Stephan Racing of Atlanta, GA and Lanier Speedway
Brian Black Racing of Louisville, KY
All Around Pressure Cleaning of Orlando
A-1 Shed Transport of Deltona Scott Householder Concrete of Deltona Own My Travel and Global Vacation Escapes of Orlando

Orlando Speedworld returns to action this Saturday afternoon with the first leg of the Winter Heat Series. Action begins at 1 PM.
