An overcast sky to start the night kept the temperature down for the fans in the stands but did not stop the racing on track from heating up. Over 100 cars showed up for another action packed night of racing on the Clay by the Bay.
The Limited Late Models were first to hit the track for their 15-lap feature event. Forrest Gough started in the 5th position and quickly made his way to the front of the pack. Gough took the win, his third of the season. Jason Pope finished 2nd. Roger Crouse in the first of his three classes of the night was 3rd. Tim Gay and JR Prather Jr. rounded out the top 5. Gough and Pope won the heat races.
The Open Wheeled Modified’s struggled through a caution filled event which saw more than half the field parked in the pits by the end of the race. Jamie Burrows was in the lead as the white flag waved but victory lane would elude him after a spin in turn 2 on the final lap. Austin Sanders started in the 17th position and was able to avoid the troubles that plagued so many in the field. Sanders was in 2nd place when Burrows spun giving him the lead and 3 turns later the victory. Rich Gilbert finished 2nd. Tony Agin started 3rd and finished 3rd. Wayne Hammond started 13th and finished 4th. Alex Boerner came from the back of the field and finished 5th. Chad Hadlick and Bobby Dixon won the heat races.
In the Street Stock class Steven Johnson and David Strickland battled for the lead as the laps were winding down. Strickland led many of the early laps, but it would be Johnson going to victory lane. Strickland finished 2nd. Buckshot Meixner finished 3rd. Timothy Dowling started shotgun on the field and raced his way to an impressive 4th place finish. Buck Woodhouse finished 5th. Bob Smith and Strickland won the heat races.
Eastbay Raceway Park continued its string of huge Late Model fields with 28 cars trying to qualify for the 24 starting spots in the 25-lap feature race. Wallace Peacock, Bubba Clem and Larry Reibsome, Jr. used the 10-lap consi race to qualify for the feature. Points leader David Schmauss and Roger Crouse had a furious battle for the lead during the final green flag run. Schmauss would come out on top, capturing his 2nd feature win of the season. Crouse finished 2nd. Marshall Austin had a strong car all night and was 3rd. Jeff Conyers and Keith Nosbisch rounded out the top-5. Austin, Crouse and Conyers won the heat races.
In the Convire 4-Cylinder Bombers class Randy Tyler was given credit for the feature win after Colin Cruse’s car failed post race inspection. Kever Raulerson finished 2nd. Kyle Eash started at the rear of the field and was able to capture a 3rd place finish. Brenton Gardner had one of his best finishes of the season coming home in 4th spot. KC Laramee completed the top-5. Cruse and Raulerson won the heat races.
East Bay Raceway Park will resume weekly ASA-sanctioned racing Saturday October 27th at 6:30pm with a full slate of racing action.
