Bradenton, Fl: Another sultry night was in the mix for a “hot” night of racing action at the “South’s Fastest Short Track”. The feature races of the night were the DeSoto Pro Truck series and the Turner Tree and Landscape Limited Late Models.
Turner Tree and Landscape Limited Late Models:
Qualifying for the Turner Tree and Landscape Limited Late Models, Tate Pierce took the fast time for the evening’s 100-lap feature event. “ Of all the years of racing I have under my belt this is the first “Fast Time” I have ever had so this is just as good as a win for me tonight” said Pierce in the post qualifying interview. Following Pierce was ASA standout Cody Pitts second fastest, third was Jessie Dutilly, fourth was Steve Gill and fifth, Steve Dorer.
A two on the die inverted the front two cars putting Pitts on the pole with Pierce on the outside. On the drop of the green though, it was the fast qualifier jumping out to the lead. The field ran nose to tail for most of the race. Towards the end of the race Steve Dorer started making his way towards the front and eventually caught the leader. For the last forty-seven laps Dorer was on Pierce’s back bumper.
The battle was also hot and heavy for the third spot. Cody Pitts had a rearview mirror full of point’s leader Jessie Dutilly. As first and second pulled away Dutilly and Pitts went after it lap after lap. It went right down to the wire with Pierce taking the win, Dorer came up just short for the second spot. Cody Pitts took the third spot in a warm up for October’s ASA race at DeSoto. Dutilly increased hid point’s lead finishing fourth and fifth across the stripe was Earl Beckner.

DeSoto Pro Trucks:
Todd Bontrager returned to the “Truck Wars” sporting his new sponsor “Monster Energy Drinks”. And he put his new sponsor on the front stretch right out of the shoot taking fast time for the fifty-lap event. Bontrager held the lead early, but a tire going down did him in and he finished in the twelfth spot on the night.
It was point’s leader Travis Roland showing the way once again to take another impressive win. Young Max Bennett moved into fifth in points battle with a solid second place run, third went to Nick King, fourth to Danny Anderson and fifth to Brent Huber.
