The Florida Mini Stock Challenge Series was at Ocala Speedway Friday night, to take on “America’s Short Track” for a 50 lap feature event.
Cody Blair, who has been strong all season, but plagued by bad luck, finally appeared to get the monkey off his back by turning a lap of 16.138 seconds to claim the fast qualifier honors. Blair then pulled a 0 in the draw for inversion, to start the field heads up by qualifying times.
This put Blair on the pole position for the feature, with Robbie Storer beside him on the front row. They were followed by Jonathan Camp, Rick Sirmans, and Paul Combast in the top 5 spots. As the field took the green flag to start the race, Blair took the lead, with Camp and Storer right behind. Blair held the lead until lap 8, when he slipped slightly high in turn 4, allowing Camp to drive to the lead. Blair and Storer proceeded to race for second position for many laps, with both drivers racing hard and clean.

Lapped traffic came into play, and at one point, a lapped car trying to clear the way for the leaders, turned sideways in front of the lead pack. Cool heads and great driving avoided a fiasco, and the race continued without missing a beat. Lap 31 saw a caution for track conditions, and after checking the track for fluids, the field once again went green flag racing, with Camp running unchallenged for the lead, while Blair and Storer continued their battle for second position, with Storer making the pass for second. The Battle continued for second, with the roles reversed.
With the heated battle for second position, Camp cruised to the win, Followed by Storer and Blair.
After the cars cleared Post Race Inspection, the results were declared official.
