The Fastrucks, in the midst of a reorganization, came to Charlotte County Motorsports Park Saturday night for the second race of the 2007 season. They wanted to put on a good show, and that they did, with Fastkids racer Ross Chastain winning his fourth race in a row and Mike Powers coming from the back of the field to take the Fastruck Pro Division win.
John Kidwell set fast time in the Pro Division, but had to start in the rear as a result of a tech issue at Ocala in round one of the fourteen race Fastruck season. Sixteen trucks took the green flag with youngster Ray Black, Jr. on the pole, after an eight car inversion. Mike Powers joined Kidwell near the tail end of the 16 car field and the stage ws set for some fan excitement.
The first lap of 75 scheduled circuit around the 3/8 Punta Gorda, Fl, speedway was spoiled by a collision by #53 James Green and #66 Kevin Brickley. The race was restarted and Black got hung up on the outside before he could build up any momentum and #33 Blake Koch set the pace with #84 Bill Vandevender in close pursuit.
Powers roared to the front in his familiar #05 Chevrolet truck, finding himself in 4th after only eight laps which included two cautions. John Kidwell was right behind him. Powers was helped when Bill Vandevender was sent to the rear for causing the third caution on lap 12. Powers easily got by the leaders and was in control by lap 15, and no one was able to catch him on this night.
John Kidwell stayed with Powers but had to settle for second.

Earlier in the night the Fastkids started eight trucks, a race dominated by Ross Chastain.
