CCMP Enjoys Wingless Sprint And Outlaw Street Stock Action
by Bill Green
(Feb.17th,2007) Charlotte County Motorsports Park finished its “Winter Heat” Series of races with the Central Florida Wingless Sprint Car Association and the newly formed Florida Sun Coast Outlaw Street Stocks joining the regular classes. Tonight’s regular classes included the 4-cylinder Junk Yard Dogs, Thunder Trucks and Sportsman classes for their final “Winter Heat” points. Next week everyone starts off with a clean points slate for the 2007 Championship run.
CFWSCA Sprinters brought 12 rockets to the show, but only 11 would fire for the feature. The 30-lap Feature went to Scotty Adema, with Rusty Dixon holding off a hard charging Ernie Teed Jr’s return to racing for second. But it was Paulie Milum stealing the show with his lap-after-lap attempts at using the high side passes to move toward the front, loosing third on a final bid for second in the closing laps. Rounding the top-5 out in the high powered wingless sprinters would be Dennis Misaruca.
Outlaw Street Stocks saw Travis Rowland take the win in the 50-lap A Main event. Danny Scowan was second, with Robert Shaver third, Troy Lacey forth and Cory Scott fifth.
First up for the regular classes were the Junk Yard Dogs for their 25-lap feature. Randy Kyle held off a great run from second place finisher Shane Moore for the win. Third place went to the hard charging Chris Lucas with Scott Adkins and Mike Carson rounding out the top-5.
Thunder Trucks all past tech, with Randy Kyle doing double duty from the JYD Class and he brought the #21 Thunder Truck home first as well. Second went to Larry Bullard Jr, with Robert St. John third, Donald Justice fourth and James Wright rounded out the top-5.
Sportsmen cars saw an early race move by Joe Shaver pay benefits as he went on to win the 35-lap Feature. John Garrett took second , but only by holding off the hard charging Dale Dean, the only driver on the smaller 8 inch Goodyear tire. Earning him the new nickname “8 Inch” Dale Dean. That left Mike Holmes in forth and Kevin Brickley fifth.
Next week Feb. 24th, CCMP will have a full program for the FAST NIGHT sponsored by Racing Limos, with the Fast Truck Pros, Fast Kids, Fast Mini Cups and Fast Late Models in action. Also scheduled for the Fast Night will be Road Warriors, Super Stocks and the Junk Yard Dogs will get the opportunity to start the regular season points race with NO DQ’s.
