DECAIRE TOPS CENTRAL FLORIDA WINGLESS AT CHARLOTTE COUNTY
by Ken Sands
Rusty Dixon led the field to the green on Saturday night at Charlotte County Speedway and looked like he would pick up his first career Sprint car win. However the field would bunch up on lap 7 when 2 time winner Joey Aguilar would run over the right rear tire of a competitor and become airborn, flipping wildly over the turn 3 wall landing outside the race track bringing out a red flag.
Aguilar was OK, the same could not be said for the car though, the incident wiped out the lead Dixon had built up.
After racing resumed Dixon would have his hands full of the competition with Troy Decaire pulling alongside Dixon for a few laps running side by side until Dexcaire finally took over the top spot on Lap 19.
Scott Adema was busy battling Jimmy Alvis in action right behind the leaders. The two were swapping third and fourth until Adema was able to break away and battle Dixon for second taking that spot with just 5 laps to go in the 30 lap event.
Adema was not able to track down Decaire in the George Rudolph #68 and had to settle for second over Rusty Dixon, Jimmy Alvis and 2005 Champ Charlie Ladner in the Mac Steele #0.
Daryl Smith, Steve Darvalics, Dennis Misuraca, Gary Gimmler and Rod Sanders rounded out the top 10. Heat wins went to Joey Agular and Troy Decaire. The Central Florida Wingless Sprints are back in action next week at Citrus County Speedway in Inverness with a 30 lap main and a $500 to win dash for cash.
