by Jane Smith Samsula, Fla. (June 11, 2005) Only eleven days into the 2005 Hurricane Season, FASCAR has had to cancel races on June 11th for all three tracks - Orlando SpeedWorld, New Smyrna Speedway and Columbia Motorsports Park due to a lady named Arlene. "It does not look good for Florida with a storm already hurting our racing family so early in the season," said Marketing Director Terry Roberts. "But what can we do, we live in Florida." "With buckets of water falling at all three tracks, there is no need to even try and race and our first priority always is to keep our racers safe." he concluded. Next Friday night at Orlando SpeedWorld, June 17, the FASCAR Pro Trucks will run a tour race for 50 laps under the new Race Director Terry Roberts. "I am looking forward to my first race just hopefully the weather will be alot better for us." said Roberts. Also on the program that night will be Open Wheel Modifieds, Sportsman, Super Stock, Mini Stock and Strictly Stock. Pit gates will open at 2 p.m. with racing action at 8 p.m. For those who are holding a ticket stub from Crash-A-Rama held on June 3rd, the ticket will be good for the June 17th race. The Saturday night show at Orlando, June 18, will see the RE/MAX Legends, Bandoleros, Hurricanes, Daytona Antique Auto Racing Association and the TQ Late Models in action. Sister track New Smyrna Speedway will have Super Late Models, Late Models, Modifieds, Sportsman, Super Stock, Mini Stock and Strictly Stocks on the June 18th program. Pit gates will open at 4 p.m. with racing action at 7:30 p.m. Columbia Motorsports Park, on June 18th, will host the popular TBARA OUTLAW WINGED SPRINTS for 30 laps of non-stop action. Along with the Sprints will be the Open Wheel Modifieds, Street Stock, Pure Stock and Hornets. Pit gate will open at 4 p.m. with racing action at 7:30 p.m. For all our racing families in Florida, please stay safe and dry this weekend.
