Styer takes LLM, Adema tops USA Sprint Car at Hialeah

HIALEAH, Fla. - Despite foul weather all over the state, the racing at Hialeah Speedway Saturday night was fast and furious with Tommy Styer the victor in the 25 lap limited late model feature.
Styer, who graduated from high school and celebrated his 18th birthday this weekend as well, overhauled leader David Weaver on lap seven and sped to his second score of the season. Veteran Danny Maddox, in a borrowed car, checkered second ahead of Weaver, Bob Regula and point leader Craig Seewald.
Street stock points leader Buddy Ryan, who trashed his regular mount two weeks prior, was in a Camaro previously driven by John Garguilo and the fit must have been just fine as he powered to his fourth feature victory of the year in the abbreviated 15 lap main.
Joe Franssen paced the first eight circuits but was no match for Ryan and they ran to the checkers in that order. T.C. McElyea and Pat Ball chased the lead duo to the stripe.
Ken Chaiser paced the 15 lap mini stock feature from opening green until the fourth turn of the last lap when his teammate, Greg Kaouk executed a perfect "bump draft" that sent Chaiser's Ford into a spin. Kaouk took the victory, his sixth of the season, ahead of points leader Ricky Thorpe, Steve Lotts and the very disappointed Chaiser.
Cyclone points leader Tony Crowder continues to amaze everyone with his success in his well used Camaro as he quietly motored into the lead on lap 20 when Robert Seymour's car gave up, then held off the hard charging Eddie Lawler for the victory in the 25 lap run. Crowder and Lawler are one-two in the points battle and Lawler had to borrow a car for the evening as the engine in his regular mount went sour in warm-ups. Todd Cooper turned in a very nice drive for third money ahead of early leader Ken Rickert and Donald Economy.
The visiting USA Sprint Car tour saw 11 of the ground pounders start the 25 lap main, but the show was the Scott Adema. Starting mid way in the field, Adema sliced and diced his way to the point by lap five then stretched his margin to a full straightaway over Tim George at the checkers. R.C. Roper, Shawn Namor and youngster Dakotah Stephens completed the top five in the caution free event.
