Scofield Takes AACS Late Models
|
By Rick Anges
Bradenton Fl., Wayne Anderson brought one of his old All-Pro cars out of moth balls and took fast time for race #5 of the “Hoosier Cup” All American Challenge Series.
The roll of the die came up a zero and there was no inversion of the field. The green dropped and it was Scofield who powered his way to the front.
The only challenge to Scofield was late in the race when Chris Fontaine who used a bump draft to get by Scofield to take the top spot. It wasn’t long before Scofield was challenging him for the lead.
Scofield was able to get under Fontaine coming out of four and the two got together sending Fontaine around in a cloud of Hoosier tire smoke. The officials on the track deemed that Fontaine had come down on Scofield sending the #47 car to the rear of the field.
From there on Scofield dominated the race taking his second win in a row, Wayne Anderson took second, third was Dawayne Bryan, fourth across the stripe was Jeff Choquette, and rounding out the top five was Mike Bresnahan.
