Adema "Cashes In" with 4th in a row in USA Sprints Competition!
|
Scotty Adema "The Fort Myers Flash" had only 1 number on his mind as he entered the night's competition at Hialeah Speedway Saturday May 7th. That number was "4"and it showed as Adema was determined to capture his 4th Win in a row in USA Sprints pavement competition. Although Adema took the checkers it was by no means an easy win as the Fort Myers veteran came from the back after spinning on lap # 10 while battling with Mike "Hollywood" Schroeder # 6. This Win was a record setting accomplishment as the # 67 broke the USA Sprints record for consecutive Race Wins. Sean "Zippy # 10n and "Hollywood" Mike Schroeder # 6 brought the field around for the start with points leader "Tiny" Tim George # 1 and Rookie Michael Smith # 9 from Ocala in the second row following close behind. The start was clean as Namor took the lead and was chased by Schroeder and George, however a caution flew for the spun car of Dakota Stevens # 79. After a complete restart Namor again resumed command of the field followed by Schroeder and Tim George. Youngster Michael Smith # 9 was in the 4th position and was being pressured by Adema who started 6th. Namor began having motor troubles and was passed by Mike Schroeder # 6 on lap 5 and George. Tim George # 1 was having handling problems, which resulted in "Tiny" pulling some wild wheelies and thrilling the crowd. Although George was driving the wheels off the Venice Wrecker Shaw his car was not cooperating. Adema while challenging Michael Smith # 9 for the 3rd position hooked wheels sending Smith spinning off of turn # 2.Smith was sent to the rear on lap 8. It seemed that being out front was not the place to be as Schroeder had encountered steering problems 2 laps later. Adema # 67 who was now challenging was committed to a pass just as Schroeder's # 6 car broke sending Adema into the spin cycle between turns 3 and 4. This forced Schroeder # 6 to the infield and Adema to the back. Namor retired the Young's Mobil Oil # 10n with overheating. Meanwhile Tim George was in the "catbird's" seat and now took over the point on lap 11. Dennis Misuraca's # 3d and RC Roper in the # 92 deliberately worked their way through traffic and into the top 3. Roper who had started in the back row was looking for his first podium finish in the Keels & Wheels machine. The Hialeah fans were again treated to an awesome battle as Misuraca was determined to get his first Win of 2005. After the restart the # 3d dove low off of turn 2 and blasted by George. A new battle ensued with George and Roper, which had the crowd cheering. At times the George car had the left front wheel 2 feet off the ground. Roper persisted and made the pass off of turn 2. Misuraca had distanced himself from Roper and George but the mighty # 67 was again on the warpath after having worked his way from deep in the pack. Scotty got by George. When Adema had caught Roper, the # 92 had caught Misuraca and a three-way battle took place. Just behind the lead trio was Dakota Stevens # 79 and Michael Smith # 9 who now took up challenging George in the # 1 as well. At this point it was Misuraca, Roper, Adema, George, Stevens, Smith and Scott Rocchio in the # 16 who was running a very nice race in 7th. Adema got by the # 92 of Roper going into turn # 1 and attacked the # 3 of Misuraca in turn # 3. Coming out of turn 4 Adema grabbed the lead on lap 19 at the flag. Meanwhile Stevens # 79 got by Tim George # 1 and then was followed by Michael Smith in the # 9. When the checkers waived fans were cheering for the drivers because they had watched a whale of a race and were appreciative of all the drivers efforts. However only one driver stood tall in Victory Lane as "The Fort Myers Flash" Scotty Adema made it "4" in a row! The final rundown was Adema # 67, Misuraca # 3d, Roper # 92, Stevens # 79, Smith # 9, George # 1, Rocchio # 16, Link # 63, Armstrong # 56 and Namor # 10n. Tim George maintained his point's lead with 566 followed by RC Roper with 517 and Michael Smith with 507. Adema is 4th with an even 500 followed by Dennis Misuraca with 426.
