TBARA & Outlaw Modifieds Highlight Charlotte Show
|
KARNAC Staff Report
Over ninety race cars and 1500 fans packed the grandstands and hillsides at Charlotte County Speedway Saturday night. A night where David Steele again put on a whale of a show, weaving outside, then inside and seemingly is unbeatable in TBARA sprints.
Starting midpack in a 20 car field Steele put his number 91 where ever it needed to be to make pass after pass, sometimes in very heavy traffic to take his fourth win of the young 2005 season.
Phillip Brigham of Ft. Pierce was ecstatic in the CCS winners circle after holding off Cliff Steinman and Mike Bean for his first victory in the Outlaw Modifieds.
The Outlaw Modifieds put on a typcial show for the fastest four cylinder class in Florida. Tight side by side racing with few cautions.
Surprises were in store for fans of the Super Stock division as Bradenton's Brian Teeters, holder of several track championships at DeSoto Speedway outran Stuart VanDevender for the win in the 25 lap feature. Teeters took the high groove and made it work long enough to get to the front and easily outdistanced the field.
Teeters nephew and last year's Mini Stock Champion at DeSoto, Todd Freed Jr., starting in just his second race in the big cars took third. Freed was sent to the rear on lap three after causing the yellow to come out.
Freed, who made the high groove his staple at DeSoto the past three years, did the same in tonight's feature, outdueling Eric Smith for the third spot.
