There were 25 cars at Orlando Speedworld on Friday night.signed in for the event, but due to a blown engine during the practice rounds on the 3 car driven by Steven Bradley, the field was cut to 24. This provided the fans with 3 8-lap heat races and a 25-lap feature event.
The first heat race of the evening saw Mark Gimmler in the 51 car line up in the pole position alongside Bo Hartley in the 3X. The 3X made a good start and took the lead. The 3X held onto the lead and won the heat race, with the 99 driven by Wayne Reutimann Sr taking second after starting the race in sixth position.
Kenny Adams in the 4A car had the pole position for the start of the second heat race with the 6F driven by J.J. Dutton in second. The 4A got the better start and lead the field from start to finish, with Todd Schmidt in the 88 car taking second place.
The third heat race put the 33 car driven by Lee Cipray in the pole seat. The 47 car of Richard Waddell was scheduled to start in second position, but he chose to go to the rear giving the second place starting position to Gary Gimmler in his 29 car.
The 33 car took the race lead and went on to win the heat with the 29 finishing in second. The 3Y car of Sonny Hartley was scheduled to run in the third heat, but was forced to retire from the nights racing due to a broken gear on the fuel pump.
There were 23 cars on the track and ready for the start of the 25-lap feature race event. After a driver introduction session on the front straightaway, half of the cars were pushed to the back straightaway so that the cars could begin to be pushed off.
As the 47 car of Richard Waddell was being pushed to the back straightaway to get ready for the push start, the rear end of the car started to leak oil. The car was pushed to the pits and did not make the start of the feature race.
Once the oil on the track from the 47 car had been cleaned up, the cars were pushed off and started. After a couple of hot laps to warm up the cars and tires, the field started to form the starting line up. At this point, the 88 car driven by Todd Schmidt, and which was due to start in third position, pulled into the infield and retired from the race.
The rest of the filed lined up and performed the four abreast parade lap, the TBARA driver's salute to the fans. They then fell back to there two abreast starting line up, with two of the heat winners making up the front row. The 4A of Kenny Adams was on the pole and the 33 car driven by Lee Cipray was starting in second.
The green flag fell on what was to be a fast and furious race to the checkered flag.
The 4A made the better start and took the race lead. 25 laps of exciting racing followed, that saw the cars 3 wide at the corners on several occasions. Stan Butler retired the 81 car to the infield on lap 12 to make the only retirement from the active race.
After 25 exciting and fast paced laps, Kenny Adams took the checkered flag to win the race after leading from start to finish. Lee Cipray took second place in the 33 car, Wayne Reutimann Sr took third place after starting back in 12th, the 29 car of Gary Gimmler took fourth and fifth place was claimed by David Steele in the 91 car.
The TBARA is keeping up the pace and will be racing again on Saturday, October 23 at Ocala Speedway.
