IT'S TIME TO RACE!!
November 8, 2003
Alan McCafferty wins Pro Modifed at Orlando SpeedWorld
by Jane Smith

Bithlo, Fla. (November 7, 2003) In spite of the almost silvery moon over head, Orlando SpeedWorld had a great night of racing. There were a few hurt cars but no one was injured which made it a great night for sure.

The Bandolero Bandits saw Chad Akins with the pole for their feature event as Akins lead from green to checkered. Following Akins on the green was Gerald White Jr., Derrick Wood, Josh Williams and Matthew Jarrett. With no cautions and only Williams passing Wood taking over third, it was Akins taking the checkered followed by Gerald White Jr., Josh Williams, Derrick Wood, and Matthew Jarrett. Chad Akins took the heat win.

The Bandolero Young Guns saw Kevin Henry on the pole and also leading from green to checkered. The No. 54 of Brandon Thomson had problems and had to drop out of the race but it was Henry taking the checkered followed by Scott Jarrett, Chelsea Schilling, Nick Wisenick, and Brandon Thomson. Kevin Henry won the heat race.

Jeremy Colalello had the pole for the Legends feature and quickly jumped to the lead on the green followed by Jordon Richardson, Sam Watts, Doc Richardson, and A.J. Fultenzl. James Rodriguez brought out the first caution when he spun on the backstretch.

On the restart, Colalello had the point but the caution came out for a mass pile-up in turn 2 involving a number of cars. No one was hurt and most continued with Richardson taking the point on the green followed by Sam Watts, Jeff Johnson, Kory Abbott and Colalello.

Rodriguez brought out the caution again when he spun in turns 1 and 2. Richardson holds the point on the restart followed by Watts who tries every way he can to pass for the lead but Richardson holds tight. Jeff Deggeller brought out the caution when he spun coming off 4 going down the frontstretch. Richardson holds the point on the restart but the caution comes out again for Derrick Wood and Mike Verhaagh who got together on the backstretch. Richardson holds the point on the restart and takes the checkered followed by Sam Watts, Jeff Johnson, Kevin Abbott and Jeremy Colalello.

Joe Adams had the pole for the Sportsman feature but it was Justin Hall who quickly took the lead on the green followed by Adams, Danny Shearer, Donnie Smith and Cory Kaiser. David Lebeau passes Kaiser for fifth when Kaiser brings out the caution as he spun on the back-stretch. Hall holds the point on the restart followed by Adams, Shearer, Smith and Wallace Ramsey. Ramsey passes Shearer and takes over fourth with Shearer sliding back to fifth.

The caution comes out for Shearer and Charlie Vest who spun in turns
3 and 4. Hall holds the point on the restart followed by Smith, Ramsey, Adams and Bruce Gayton. Ramsey passes Smith for second and puts his eyes on Hall for first. Ramsey makes the move and takes over the lead putting Hall back to second. Ramsey takes the checkered followed by Justin Hall, Donnie Smith, Bruce Gayton, and Tim Aultman.

In tech, the No. 38 of Wallace Ramsey is dq'd with the win going to "first time winner" Justin Hall. The new finishing order was Hall, Donnie Smith, Bruce Gayton, Tim Aultman, and Cory Kaiser.

Super Lates saw B.J. McLeod on the pole and leading from green to checkered for his 55th win in a Super Late Model. Following McLeod on the green was Rusty Ebersole, Jim Mattheus, Rob Kayse, and Mario Hernandez. Hernandez brought out the caution when he hit fluid on the track and spun. The officials ruled track condition and Hernandez was given back his spot with the track being cleaned more.

McLeod holds the point on the restart followed by Ebersole, Hernandez, Wood, and Mattheus. Rob Kayse brought out the second caution when he spun going down the frontstretch. The race restarts with McLeod leading the way but it is a short green as Hernandez spins in turn 3 with the yellow coming out again.

McLeod holds the point on the restart with Ebersole in second followed by Wood, Bobby Fleckinger and Kayse. Mattheus pulls on to pit road. Fleckinger falls back with Ronnie Roach taking over fifth. McLeod takes the checkered followed by Rusty Ebersole, Ricky Wood, Rob Kayse, and Ronnie Roach. Also, it was nice to see
Derrick Strong back in his Super Late Model after a lengthy absence.

Alan McCafferty set fast time for the Pro Mod 50 lapper but after the pill was drawn, it was Jim "Hoot" Flynn on the pole. Flynn quickly took the lead on the green followed by Bryan Campbell, Alan McCafferty, Michael Williams and Jerry Symons. The caution comes out when Williams does a 360 on the backstretch and Alan Bruns, Shane Held and Jamie Burrows get a chain reaction as Bruns hits Held and Held lands in the passenger side window of Burrows. All drivers were fine but only Bruns was able to continue. The race was red flagged to get Held out of Burrows's car and for track clean-up.

Flynn holds the point on the restart followed by Symons, Skip Honaker, Jason Boyd, and Lee Collins. Alan McCafferty passes Collins for fifth, then takes fourth from Boyd. McCafferty then passes Honaker for third with Honaker following to fourth and Boyd now in fifth. Lee Collins brought out the caution when he spun on the backstretch. Flynn holds the point on the green followed by Symons, McCafferty, Honaker, and Boyd. McCafferty and Symons do some dancing but Symons holds on to second. Collins brought out the caution again as he goes around on the backstretch with Flynn also spinning and retiring to the pits.

On the restart, McCafferty has the lead followed by Symons, Boyd, Brad May and Bryan Campbell. The caution comes out for May who spun coming off 4 going onto the frontstretch with a little help from Campbell. PBoth Campbell and May are sent to the rear of the field for the restart.

McCafferty holds the point on the restart but it is a short green as Williams spins on the backstretch dusting the wall. McCafferty holds the point on the restart followed by Symons, Boyd, Honaker, and Collins. But another short green as Williams and Bruns get together on the backstretch with Bruns spinning.

The race goes back green with McCafferty on the point but the caution comes out again for Bruns who has hit the frontstretch wall and goes into the pits. McCafferty holds the point on the restart and takes the checkered followed by Jerry Symons, Jason Boyd, Skip Honaker, and Lee Collins.

Only one caution for the Super Stock feature as Cory Freed lead from green to checkered. Following Freed on the green was Ron Edwards, Andy Nichols, and Bob Beiler. Nichols has problems and withdraws as Beiler takes over fourth and Bass fifth. Beiler passes Rix for third with Jeff Wright coming into the picture and taking over fourth with Rix in fifth and Bass in sixth. The only caution comes out for Jamie Burrows who has spun coming down the frontstretch. The race goes back green as Freed leads the way followed by Edwards, Beiler, Wright and Bass. Edwards falls back as Beiler takes over second followed by Wright in third, Bass in fourth, and Bill Loomis in fifth.

Freed holds on and takes the checkered followed by Jeff Wright, Bob Beiler, Bill Loomis, and Sean Bass.

Michael Seay had the pole for the Mini Stock feature but it was Sean Bass who jumped to the lead on the green followed by Seay, Tim "Missileman" McPhail, Dick Laszlo and Brian Dorer. Bobby Orr, back behind the wheel of the No. 30, had to retire with mechanical problems.

McPhail passes Seay for second with Dorer passing Laszlo for fourth.
Dorer works his way to third as Seay goes to fourth and Laszlo is in fifth. McPhail and Bass do some great side-by-side action for a few laps but end up both spinning as they go into turn 3. Both McPhail and Bass are sent to the rear.

On the restart it is Dorer on the point followed by Seay, Laszlo, McPhail and Bass. Dorer takes the checkered followed by Michael Seay, Dick Laszlo, Tim McPhail and Sean Bass. McPhail was put back one spot for jumping the start so the new finishing order was Dorer, Seay, Laszlo, Bass, and McPhail.

Roger Benton had the pole for the Strictly Stock feature and took the point on the green followed by Bobby Crites Jr., Russ Noyes, Richie Laszlo, and Donald Springer. The only caution was for Crites who was spun by Benton. Crites was given back his spot with Benton going to the rear.

Crites held the point on the restart followed by Laszlo, Noyes, Springer, and Dave Czewinski, our only strictly stock station wagon. Czewinksi passes Springer and takes over fourth with Springer gong to fifth.

Crites takes the checkered followed by Richie Laszlo, Russ Noyes, Dave Cqewinski and Ricky Salomon, Jr.

Nine Hurricanes were in their feature race with Clyde Hudson on the pole and taking the lead on the green followed by Bobby Crites, Jr., Adam Soukup, Greg Bruce, and Ralph Jones. Greg Bruce takes over the lead with alot of swapping places in this "no caution" feature. Bruce takes the checkered followed by Ralph Jones, Eric Ripley, Mike Sobal, and Clyde Hudson.

Next Friday night at SpeedWorld, all divisons will be racing as the
2003 season comes to it's conclusion. Watch as they fight their way for point standings.
