by Jane Smith
Bithlo, Fla (October 24, 2003) Fall is in the air and as the 2003 season comes to a close, racing is getting really hot at SpeedWorld. Fans were treated to some really great side-by-side action Friday night as only a few weeks remain in the points season.
Bandoleros had double features Friday night due to the washout of their feature from the previous week. Derrick Wood took the checkered flag in the first feature followed by Josh Williams, Blake Eden, Gerald White Jr., and Chad Akins. The second feature for the Bandits saw Josh Williams on the pole and quickly taking the point over Blake Eden, Derrick Wood, Gerald White Jr., and Chad Akins. Akins put the pedal down and passed White and took over fourth. Spencer Taylor spun high in turn 2 bringing out the yellow.
Williams holds the point on the restart followed by Wood, Akins, Eden, and Taylor. Taylor passes Eden for fourth with Eden falling back to fifth. Williams takes the checkered followed by Derrick Wood, Chad Akins, Gerald White Jr. and Spencer Taylor.
The rainout feature for the Young Gun Bandolero saw Kevin Henry lead from green to checkered over Scott Jarrett, Chelsea Schilling, and Nick Wesenick.
The second feature for the Young Guns saw Scott Jarrett on the pole but before a lap was down, Chesea Schilling brought out the yellow as she spun at the bottom of turns 1 and 2. The field was realigned with Kevin Henry taking the point on the green. Henry took the checkered followed by Brandon Thomson, Scott Jarrett, Nick Wiesenick, and Chelsea Schilling.
The visiting Mod Lites saw Mike Belusar on the pole for their feature race. Belusar quickly took the point on the green followed by George Landis, James Wagner, Doug Pavlamento, and Dan Berry. Berry passed Pavlamento for fourth with Pavlamento sliding to fifth. Belusar found his hands full of Landis right on his tail and then doing some great side-by-side action. Landis took the point, made it stick and took the checkered followed by Mike Valusar, Dan Berry, James Wagner, and Doug Pavlamento.
George Landis and Mike Belusar took the heat wins.
The Pro Challenge Series put on another great show with Howard Brannan on the pole for their feature race. But it was Brad Sanders who took the point on the green and never looked back. Sanders basically walked away from the second, third, fourth, and fifth place cars as they went nose-to-tail for a good portion of the race. Sanders took the checkered followed by Rod Sanders, Howard Brennan, Mike Lago, and Tim Hart.
Howard Brennan took the heat win.
David Lebeau had the pole for the Sportsman feature race but it was Earl Beckner who quickly jumped to the lead. Justin Hall and Cory Kaiser brought out the yellow when they spun in turns 3 and 4. Flynn and Boyd go lap after lap nose-to-tail until on the last lap, Flynn pushes just alittle too hard coming off turn 2 and puts the car into a spin at the bottom of the backstretch.
Boyd takes the checkered followed by Shane Held, Jon Compogone, Matt Wheeler, and Lynn Dicandio (was was racing with the flu and felt terrible).

Fontaine passes Deffendall and takes over second and sets his eyes on McLeod in first. The yellow comes out for the last time as Greg Brooks and Rick Lyons spin at the same place Mattheus and Embler had earlier, at the bottom of turn 3.
