HIALEAH, Fla. - Bobby Beauchemin and Gary McGoron each claimed a feature victory in the twin 50 lap late model sportsman headliners Saturday night at Hialeah Speedway.
The races were round four of the MK Mechanical six pack series with Gary Padula leading from the pole for the first 23 laps until he lost and engine and spun in turn one. Beauchemin took over on the restart and claimed his third series win. Danny Maddox was a close second over David Weaver, Greg Kaouk and McGoron. McGoron lead all 50 circuits of the nightcap and was chased to the strip by Maddox, Sean Bulaskas, Beauchemin and David Meyer.
The companion 50 lap pro truck headliner fell to Tom North in wire to wire fashion for his first victory of the season. Point leader Heather Lunsford took home runner-up money ahead of Jake Reedy, Tommy King and Joe Winchell.
Tony Barreca snagged the point on the second lap and hustled to his fourth 25 lap street stock victory of the season. Steve Dielmann nabbed second position in front of Bulaskas, Bob Hogan and Ken Ammerman.
Mini stock action found Fred Williams the man with the plan as he put his pick-up truck out front early then held off the advances of point leader S.C. Klinger for his first victory of the year. Bill Calder brought his Mustang home third in front of Greg Kaouk and Steve Quick in the 20 lap run.
Finally able to overcome some engine woes, Timmy Ryan motored into the lead on lap 15 and blazed to his second cyclone feature victory this year in the 25 lap main. George Morales crossed the stripe second over Billy Field, Jonathan Barreca and Bob Regula.
