Danny Martin, Jr. Sprint Winner at East Bay as Mother Nature Gives them a Break!!!
After way too many weeks of weather related problems EASTBAY RACEWAY PARK was able to get every sceduled lap of racing in the books Saturday night and even with a Buc's home game and Bristol on tv plus threatning skys late afternoon, a good crowd and 118 racers came out to play in the dirt.
After some good heat racing action the limited late models started off the features comming to the green flag 20 cars strong. After 15 laps of intense racing it was Bill Howard taking the win. Second thru fifth were Timmy Gay, Tim Bronson, Jeff Mathews, and Roger Crouse. Mathews and Crouse won the heats.
Next up were the street stocks and Jason Bronson would bring his #25 from a lucky thirteenth starting spot to claim the checkers. Second was Bruce Harvey followed by Austin Sanders, Rob Hall, and Tim Hunt. The heats went to Harvey and Hall.
Twenty one late models were lined for their 25 lap feature and it was a good night for the EASTBAY veterans. Keith Nosbisch would come from sixth starting spot to notch another feature win on His belt. The "Ageless Wonder" Donnie Tanner would use every inch of the race track on the way from his 13th starting spot to take second and David Schmauss would come from the number ten slot for third. Jeremy Morgan came all the way from the last row to fourth and Roger Crouse claimed fifth. Tanner and Keith Nosbisch won their heats.
Sprint car time, and twenty winged 360s signed in for tonights action. After some bumping and grinding open wheel racing and a nasty flip between turns three and four for Brian Maddox, who was not injured, the "Young Gun" Danny Martin Jr. would claim the checkers. Kenny Adams, Tom Winegardner Jr., Joe Melnick, and Sport Allen followed in that order. Paulie Milum and Martin Jr. took the heat wins.
The traveling Classic Auto Racing Series made their second visit of the year tonight and the X11 of Joey Strehle won the 15 lap feature. Joey was followed to the line by Bud Spencer, Ben Booth, Bill Posey, and George Hall Jr. Strehle and Spencer won the heats.
The last feature of the night was for the Hill's Dirt Pits, Pioneer Tire & Auto, Busbee Aquatics mini stocks. Kenny Rutledge would out last the field for the 15 lap win with Ryan Mitchell,Scotty Williams, Wallace Peacock, and Dorsey Strickland taking the top five spots. Strickland and Daniel Bowman Jr. took their heat races.
The 1-800-ASK-GARY DASH FOR CASH saw the street stocks make a run for the money tonight. And what a great run it was. The crowd was on it's feet for some fantastic three wide racing for the money. Danny Paris took his #03P ride to the inside groove on the last lap and just nipped Tim Hunt, Tony Traina, Mark Alderman, and Tony Jackson. A tip of the cap to all for a great race.
