Doyle Boatwright wins Late Model Feature at Columbia
by Marty Little

LAKE CITY, Fla. - Doyle Boatwright snagged the lead from Ray Wheeler on the third lap then sped to the victory in the 25 lap Late Model feature event Saturday night at Columbia Motorsports Park.

Once in front Boatwright kept his mount ahead of Wayne Anderson and they crossed the stripe in that order with Wheeler, Perry Lovelady and Mario Hernandez completing the top five runners on the half-mile oval.

Charlie Seroki claimed the win in the 12 lap Florida Modified headliner in front of Terry Wright and Mark Bergman.

Street Stock action saw Jeff Prescott the man with the plan as he overhauled Wheeler for the lead on lap four and never looked back enroute to the victory. Wheeler took runner-up honors in the 25 lapper over Will Jerkins, Brian Wheeler and Seroki.

A new face graced victory lane in the Pure Stocks as local driver Wesley Keller, an infrequent runner here, paced the final seven laps of the 20 lap main for the victory. Russell Patterson, Ronnie Webb, Randy Johnson and John Roling trailed at the line.

Caleb Mahler topped the entry level Hornet racers ahead of Buck Headman and Scott Dobek while Derrick Suits was the best of the visiting TQ Late Models over Tony Dugger and David Rader.

The headliner for Saturday, August 30 will be the annual Gaylon Roberts Workingman's 100 for Florida Pro Seires super late models.
