Perry Loveland takes the Win in Late Models at Columbia
by Marty Little

LAKE CITY, Fla. - Veteran Perry Lovelady blasted from his third starting position and lead all 25 laps to win the Late Model headliner Saturday night at Columbia Motorsports Park.

While Lovelady set the quick pace on the half-mile oval it was no runaway as Ray Wheeler stayed glued to Lovelady's bumper throughout to claim runner-up money. Brannen Hester, Jody Turner and Billy Dean rounded out the top five runners.

A short field of Florida Modifieds saw then run a 10 lap dash with Charles Seroki the top finisher ahead of Terry Wright and Pat Jett.
In the first of two 25 lap Street Stock runs, Jason Garver grabbed the lead from Brad Fiene on lap 10 to score the victory in the caution free make up event. Fiene claimed second money over Jeff Prescott, Brian Wheeler and Nick Reid.

In the evening's regular 25 lapper it was Prescott who took the lead from Fiene on lap 13 and sped to the laurels ahead of Garver, Fiene, Reid and Will Jerkins.

Marty Wood appeared headed to the Pure Stock victory in the 20 lap main until the engine exploded on lap 15 and he slid off the track. When the field went back to green it was Ronnie Cook in command and he took it to the checkers first over Russell Patterson, John Roling, Kent Lovett and Kevin Metts.

The entry level Hornets 10 lap feature went to Scott Doebeck ahead of Tim Mahler, Sean Burns and Caleb Mahler.
