Al Beckelheimer, Jr. Takes Late Model Win at Columbia Motorsports Park
by Marty Little

LAKE CITY, Fla. - Al Beckelheimer, Jr muscled his way past leader Perry Lovelady on lap 18 and went on to claim the victory in the 20 lap late model feature Saturday night at Columbia Motorsports Park.
Lovelady, an infrequent competitior on the half-mile oval, looked to be in good shape but Beckelheimer had other ideas and once he caught the leader it was no easy chore gaining the top spot with a bottom side pass. Georgia visitor Walter Reardon took third money ahead of Doyle Boatwright and Michael Haigh.

Jason Gaver nabbed a pair of feature victories as he topped the 20 lap Florida modified headliner with a good drive over Scott Millar, early leader Charles Seroki, Shawn Taylor and Wayne Parker.

Garver's second win came in the street stocks where he bested the 13 car field in style to reach the checkers ahead of Kelly Barber, Jeff Prescott, Tim Conrad and Ray Wheeler.

Marty "Mr Pure Stock" Wood garnered yet another victory in the entry level division as he led from the second lap to gain the victory ahead of Russell Patterson, Josh Bedenbaugh, Ronnie Cook and Shane Taylor in the 20 lap contest.

Tony Carrigg proved the best of the visiting TQ late models over Terry Dugger and Rick Goss.
