Brian Finney of Merritt Island Wins Florida Pro at Columbia Motorsports Park
by Marty Little

LAKE CITY, Fla. - Second generation wheelman Brian Finney took big advantage of his front row starting position and led all 125 laps to win Saturday night's Florida Pro Series super late model headliner at Columbia Motorsports Park.

Finney drew a six on the redraw to start from the pole and was joined by Wayne Anderson to pace the 16 car field on the lightning fast half-mile oval.

When the initial green flag flew Finney simply waved bye-bye to the field to score his second career FPS victory. Point leader Wayne Anderson gave chase but never was able to mount a serious challenge and settled for runner-up honors, five car lengths back. Jeff Scofield, fast qualifier Jay Middleton and Doyle Boatwright completed the top five finishers.

The companion Florida Modified 25 lapper saw Jason Garver take the lead on lap three then lead Shawn Taylor, Rick McManaway, Greg Nordstrom and Kat Thomas to the stripe.

As always the street stocks provided the best race of the evening with a trio of leaders up front before Jeff Prescott roared to the lead on lap 14 and set sail. Ray Wheeler settled for second ahead of Tim Conrad, Brad Fiene and Dave Barber, Jr.

Mr Pure Stock, Marty Wood, nothced yet another victory as he easily topped early leader Russell Patterson, Charles Seroki, Troy Davis and Kent Lovett.
