Morris Dominates Limited Late Models, Jefferson Takes Open Wheels
By Rick Anges Bradenton,Fl. - Doug Moff was back on hand to take a shot at four in a row in the Turner Tree and Landscape Limited Late Model series. Goff has been in the right place at the right time and been the big winner in the last three events in the new series.
Goff came out strong in qualifying running a fast time of 14.87 seconds to take the top spot over 19 of the top names in the state.
When the die was rolled the field was inverted four rows putting Wayne Morris of Mulberry, Fl on the point. The green dropped and Morris jumped out to a good lead the he would never relinquish. Moff had a fast racecar and towards the end of the 100 lapper moved into the second spot. Several restarts saw Moff close in on Morris but the Mulberry Flash was able to hold him off thwarting his bid for four in a row. Morris took the win followed by Moff in second, third went to Chad the Hood Allman.
Open Wheel Modifieds
Wayne Jefferson showed why he earned the nickname the Rocket Man blistering the track with a 14.89 second qualifying lap.
Once again the field was inverted four rows and when the green dropped it was Steve the Rattle Snake Perez who took the lead. Jefferson was making his way up through the pack when he was caught up in incident on the track that brought out the yellow and sent him to the rear of the field. But that didnt stop the Rocket Man as he battled his way back through the field and late in the race took the lead from Perez and went on to dominate the rest of the race to take home the trophy. Second went to Steve Perez in a good showing, Jay Coleman came back strong after a crash in practice almost ended his night, hard work garnered him a third place finish and the Timber Wolf Hard Charger award, fourth was Pat Nanney, and rounding out the top five was Dennis Wilson Jr.
Legends
Jordan Richardson and Jason Reisman fought hard for the top spot for final laps in the Legends feature. Reisman tried the high and low lines to get around Richardson but the 00 was able to hold him off.
Richardson crossed the stripe first, second went to Reisman, third was Patrick Conrad, fourth went to Bruce Sasser, and fifth was Jeff Johnson.
